  1. you'd like me to list each of the functions? ok. is Trammel likely to... ...fill out a better lineup card than Lou -or- manage the starter's pitch count better -or- make better lineup/pitching changes -or- make better decisions about weekly relief pitcher usage patterns and monthly starter usage patterns -or- make better roster management decisions (i.e. decisions about 25- and 40-man rosters) -or- do a better job of firing up/calming down/focusing the players -or- do a better job of managing the things players work on during practice/rehab -or- do a better job of deflecting media attention away from the players who don't want/need it -or- handle the umpires more effectively -or- order better food spreads for the clubhouse -or- do a better job of helping the rookies manage their money intelligently -or- do a better job of helping the rookies interact with women more kindly -or- do a better job of encouraging safe sex -or- do a better job of designing the team's personal appearance standards (ex: by instituting the obligatory mustache rule) -or- by helping the team pull better pranks on the opposing team (shall I go on?) You are the one who specifically mentioned filling out a lineup card. Filling out the lineup card is not my problem with Lou, its his bullpen management, and other in game decisions that I question.
  2. I understand the excitement of Ascanio as a starter, but I really wish hed get the callup to the bullpen and send Shark down.
  3. From the standpoint of Bradley getting the boot, I agree. It was too quick. However, Milton ends up being hung out to dry a little bit by being the only one putting up the fight. If Lou is out there, now Bradley has a little more support. Instead, it just looks like Milton being Milton. And this is an actual complaint Milton had every right to make, IMO. If Lou goes out to argue balls and strikes he gets tossed and quite possibly suspended. So its a win win situation! is Trammel likely to fill out a better lineup card than Lou? Since when is filling out a lineup card all the manager does?
  4. So much for the Rice rumor. WSCR is saying Angelo says the team has zero interest in signing Rice.
  5. Pretty safe to assume Fuku gets the day off against Hampton right?
  6. Thoughts? Pass rush is a skill that can be turned back on with a flip of a switch. I'd be fine with a one year deal with him just playing in obvious passing downs. No strong feeling either way though. I heard Rice in an interview on WSCR early in the offseason, and he was basically begging the Bears to give him a chance. The guy had nothing but great things to say about Maranelli, and says hes healthier now than he has been in years. Rice has always been a physical speciman, I really dont see the downside in giving him a shot. Hell give him a 1 year deal, and if it doesnt work out I wouldnt mind seeing him help coach the defensive ends.

  8. How exactly does one look after just buying coke?
  9. If IMB is in fact banned yet Meph is still allowed to post here its BS in my opinion.
  10. Sounds like Theriot is crediting his recent power to the best hitting coach in the Cubs org...Von Joshua. I really am glad hes in our organization, and cant believe a big league club hasnt stolen him away yet. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090505&content_id=4570470&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  11. Send Shark down and call up Ascanio or something. Coming in the game with runners on is not meant for Shark.
  12. The hit and run forces hitters to make contact with bad pitches. The lead runner is never going at full speed on the hit and run (always has to slow down and look back) and any relatively well-hit ball to the left side should be able to get the lead runner. Lee's problem is that he always ends up pulling garbage on a hit and run right to the SS or the 3B to start the double play. He doesn't have the speed to make it a close play at 1B, either. But when Lou calls for the hit and run with Lee its almost always a 3-2 count so if its a strike he should be swinging anyways, and if its a ball let it go.
  13. Nice little rip from Scales, Ive liked what Ive seen so far.
  14. Well thats about the best we can hope for with MIles vs Lincecum. Come on fuku get ahold of one!
  15. Just hold them at 3 Sean and I think we can tack on 1 or 2 more today
  16. Nice job Sean, he seems to have had a few big hits for us while starting.
  17. If you give guys days off over several days, you reduce your chances to win on each of those days. If you have them all rest at once, you only reduced your chances to win one game, and it's a game you had a strong chance to lose anyway, even if they all started. I understand that, but by taking 1 guy out of a lineup isnt going to reduce your chances of winning that much. Doing it on a day with your number 5 starter is on the mound facing 1 of the best pitchers in the game, you are basically forfeiting. If you take 1 guy out when you have say Demp, Harden, and Lilly, on the mound your chances arent reduced much at all.
  18. Im sorry but its ridiculous to rest almost your entire lineup on the same damn day. Give 1guy a day off today, and just keep going each day for a few days. To throw out a lineup like this is ridiculous Im sorry.
