  1. Back to normal baseball? Yea the whole"well Toronto tried it and look how that worked for them" and "back to normal baseball" Wtf. Im sorry but thats not the type of thinking I want around our young kids in the minors.
  2. Wait, are you talking about Fox coming up and catching? That's a horrible idea, since he can't do the whole "catch the ball" part of the equation. I've seen him play much, how terrible is he? Because in addition to not hitting Soto' become 2007 Kendall when it comes to throwing base runners out. Soto is putting up a .280 .360 line or so for the month of May. His slugging is down, but hes starting to hit, and hes getting on base at a pretty good rate. Soto isnt the problem right now.
  3. I'm sure the Mets are looking to acquire more than a 1B who can't hit anymore. And I'm all for playing Hoff more, but Soto will come around. However, if Lou saying that he'll play Hill over Geo if he doesn't turn it around soon lights a fire under him and gets his bat going, then I'm all for it. But wouldn't you say Soto already is coming around (or even has come around)? His SLG is still pathetic but he's got a .280 BA and .362 OBP in May. Yea thats my problem with Lous comments. Lee has shown signs of life, as has Soto, and now is when he talks about making changes.
  4. You got to love Milton saying what us Cubs fans have been saying for years.
  5. I really dont like that comment from Peorias manager at all.
  6. So now all of a sudden the Cardinals are looking good? Since when?
  7. Not me. If he doesnt come to the Cubs, Id prefer he goes to Anaheim.
  8. Come on, the White Sox offense is easily better than San Diego's, as is their rotation and pen outside of Peavy. Plus the White Sox are committed to winning and operate a payroll that reflects that, while the Padres are being held to a $40 million payroll. There's a huge difference. But if I'm Peavy I'm thinking that if the White Sox aren't my ideal destination, its very likely that more of these deals will pop up over the course of the next 2 months. Not the best stat to quote but the Sox have 7 more runs than the Pads and they play in a hitters park in the AL. The season's not over yet. The White Sox hitters have a much better track record over their careers than the Padres hitters sans Gonzalez. They may have a better track record, but every hitter on that team is getting really really old. It shouldnt be a surprise if their offense doesnt pick up at all, and they have Pods playing CF, that says enough about their offense.
  9. Jerry Kranick from ESPN has spoken with Peavys agent, and he doesnt think it will be done. Axelrod is saying Peavy may be interested later on, but right now Peavy is leaning towards waiting to see if another deal comes along to a team he wants to go to. Axelrod says there are 3-4 teams that Peavy would accept a trade too right now with no hesitation.
  10. 99% I think is a rather low estimation. Heres some quotes from Bradley following tonights game. At least hes being a man about his troubles so far.
  11. I know Lou likes to spout off after games and say stuff he usually completely doesnt mean or stick with, and heres another instance. Its funny that now, after Lee has had a few decent games, Lou supposedly is thinking about playing Hoff. Same goes for Soto who had an OPS over 1.000 over the last 7 games before the Stl series, but now hes talking about playing Hill. Lou cracks me up sometimes, and I love how the Chicago media said nothing about pulling the infield in in the 4th inning of a 0-0 game. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-21-cubs-cardinals-chicago-may21,0,467023.story
  12. Thought this was going to be about the Bad News Bears :D
  13. Marshalls last start until someone gets hurt in my opinion.
  14. He needs some more time in the cages, or with the coaches, or something. It's not ridiculous to think that with his spotty starts that his timing is off. Meh hes been in the lineup for the most part lately. I think Bradley is pressing like crazy. He wants to win and he wants to succeed and have the fans behind him, so hes trying to do way too much right now. Hes not the 1st high profile free agent to sign with the Cubs and struggle like crazy in his 1st year.
  15. So your putting allllll the blame on the Fontenot? How about some of our guys who are making millions of dollars wake the hell up and start playing baseball. No hitting, dumb baserunning, and poor defense the last 2 nights from guys making a hell of alot more funny than Mike Fontenot.
  16. Typical baseball team. Yea ok thanks for your input
  17. hahaha yes this is the greatest fake rally ever. This is awesome
  18. Hoff is going to K or hit a warning track shot, you all know it
