  1. Of course they have, they need a few more years to completely destroy his development and confidence so they can deal him for a couple crappy A-ballers. Also, this whole situation makes me wonder if the veteran problem we had under Dusty was really Dusty's fault or if he was just following orders. We got a new manager and the same things are happening. Of course it's quite possible it was Dusty's fault and Lou is just as bad as Dusty, but I have to wonder if it's almost all on Hendry instead. The same things are not happening. How can you even suggest this?? Marmol is closing (under dusty it would be Howry or Eyre, because they're the highest paid/vettiest). Theriot and Fontenot have gotten extended looks while Izturis rides the pine. Pie has started over Jones for quite some time now. I know many of these are obvious, but they wouldn't have been to Dusty. Sorry, not even close.
  2. Dodgers. and they send us back Todd Hundley.
  3. I already go to church on Sundays, so that's 1. me too, chalk another up I've tried it. I'm a minister. Trust me it doesn't work. He's just not a Cubs fan.
  4. Who is this "Wood" person you guys are speaking of? Remember? He's that guy that was good in 1998 and 2003 and helped the Cubs reach the playoffs. I always wondered what happened to him. Oh, him. Is he still on the team? I thought he had taken a job as a crab fisherman or ice road trucker or something like that. Steve Stone says: used car salesman
  5. I wouldn't say it hinges. I would think there's a better chance Hendry realizes they need offensive help now that Barrett has been replaced for defensive purposes. And hopefully he realizes that SS and RF are the two biggest need spots for that improvement. So if a guy walks into the ER with a gunshot wound, no ones going to do anything about it, but if while waiting someone stabs him in the leg, then the doctors will need to take care of the gunshot wound? For clarification: guy=cubs gunshot wound=SS someone who stabs guy=Hendry stabbing wound =losing Barrett taking care of gunshot wound=upgrading offensively at SS This analogy is better than it appears at first. :D Yeah, thats why I opted to include the clarification So who are the doctors?
  6. or the "nobody's claiming it means anything; it's just funny" thread
  7. Big outing. Just when the team needed it. Is Z back for good?
  8. what is this?
  9. THis coming from a Sosa lover. Just kidding.
  10. something to the effect of "what happens on wrigley stays on wrigley"?
  11. I always thought that was Cindy Sandberg. Cindy Sandberg slept with sunnydoo's wife??!?!
  12. no way. Beane's greatest attribute is that he's cheap; he's good value. You pay him big bucks and he loses his appeal. Don't tell me nobody got this... Maybe it just wasn't funny.

  14. ... and here I thought the season was over. Silly me !!! well, synergy said it was.....way back on April 24! yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the 2009 season. The season's been over and back on twice now.
  15. The 1 and 6 hitters in that Cubs lineup were in their major league debut. What a way to start a career. What kind of manager starts guys off against Koufax?! Fire Lou Klein!
  16. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_150404.jpg Ted Lilly 4-2 269 vs http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_117955.jpg Cy Lowe 4-5 3.84 I can't believe I'm up at 3:15 posting a game thread for these losers. Dear Cubs: You suck so hard, NASA mistook you for a black hole. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your collective armpits for eternity. Sincerely, Mr Wood
  17. No doubt this happens, then the Cubs score 3 runs in the first 2 games against LA and start it all over again. gotta maintain that pythagorean title.
  18. There's no logical reason unless you believe a player's defensive position affects his offense. I think it could in some cases but I have a tough time believing that moving from one corner OF spot to the other would do it. or if you think he'd be better defensively in RF

Dear Suckago Cubs(thank you rynefan): You suck bowling balls through a straw. Sincerely, Mr Wood
  20. Time to change your sig to "Prior: -.--"
  21. while we're discussing odd plays from ten years ago, anyone remember in the early 90's when two cub runners ended up standing on first? that was fun. I though Harry was gonna have stroke in the booth. Not kidding.
  22. Why not? Because it makes too much sense. and we don't want to make him learn ANOTHER new position. forget what's best for the team, we PROMISED him he'd stick in one position and not have to move around a lot.
  23. you're a funny dude. funny like a clown. like a clown with a tumor, right?
