  1. I wonder how long it'll take marshall to figure out that walks hurt him
  2. But that means not skipping Rusch's turn in the rotation. I know i understand what you are saying, just probably what dusty is thinking, unless Guzman is gonna get another shot.
  3. i'm guessing Dusty is thinking giving the bullpen a rest in case marmol doesn't go long tomorrow and then an off day monday will give him the rest he needs
  4. pull Zambrano and rest him and let guzman go for 3 innings while ahead and see if he can gain some confidence
  5. why would they bash the cubs on National TV. Why would DJ want the cubs to do something smart and get better. All media says Dusty should say because with him they aren't a threat. With the current coaching staff, the cubs dont have a prayer. One less NL team for teams to worry about. P.S. Rich Hill looks awful
  6. Rotoworld reporting he was claimed off waivers by the Nationals via the Rockies
  7. no way carlos pena is better than sing or walker at first
  8. But if Dlee is out for an extended period of time. I think we see what it takes to go get Craig Wilson (cheap/4 million ???). They have Brad Eldred at AAA if they do move Craig Wilson. i know he's not Derrek Lee but i think he'd be a more than adequate option. His bat just reminds me of hte kearns and dunns where it doesn't matter what way the wind is blowing at wrigley, he's gonna hit homers. It was nice to see the team rally behind eyre and lee and take that game tonight. here's to hoping i wake up to Dlee just a little banged up.
  9. I agree. I dont understand why Barrett continues to catch ball games when we play against lineups with the likes of freel, posednik, pierre, taveras in the lineup. he isn't gonna throw them out. Barrett's bat is nice to have occasionally but he's so lazy back behind the plate. He needs more concentration back there. Almost like gets bored with it. It would be nice to see him make defensive improvements like aramis has made after being labeled a horrible fielder. It sure looks like Aramis has worked on his weakness.
  10. i just call him "JP" because i can't think of nicknames and watch him hit a 3 bagger at the same time
  11. Guess which one of these lines is Soriano's 2005 away line, and which one is Neifi's 2005 line. A) .274/.298/.383/.681 B) .224/.265/.374/.639 Hint: It's B You have to take into consideration that oakland, seattle and los angeles aren't traditional hitters parks and he was in trade rumors all the time. I really think in a full year of : Wrigley, Great American, The Juicebox, Miller Park and PNC Park he will hit some pretty big home run totals. With Washington in the predicament they are in, they would have to pay for some of him. I think it would be a good move to get soriano. Would it be murton for soriano straight up, i dont think so. i think hendry get some prospects in the deal if he's taken on payroll. It all boils down to what is the plan with pie. I like murton, but soriano in a contract year is gonna be huge.
  12. Koronka, Bartosh, Leicester, Remlinger, e. wilson, mitre, fox, and borowski WILL NOT see wrigley field as a member of the cubs
  13. Probably would be more like : Pierre Jones Lee Tejada Ramirez Niefi Murton Cedeno BLEH! Cubs using Neifi at catcher?
  14. if cubs can get Bedard and dont part with cedeno or hill in the deal i think its a great deal. Bedard is very good, and prior has had some problems. I think tejada makes this the most dangerous lineup behind the mets. Bedard's numbers in april and may were VERY good (6-1 2.18 era)... then he got tired down the stretch as he was over pitched a bit. Kinda like Zambrano in his first full season. Prior is gonna cost a boat load. Dont get me wrong, i love prior and i would hate to see him go, but i think this team is better with tejada, bedard for a combo of walker, prior, patterson and some prospects. pierre murton lee tejada aramis barrett cedeno jones thats a pretty tough lineup... zambrano bedard 93 mph lefty maddux woody hill williams rusch and i love our bullpen top to bottom if novoa isn't part of it. Dempster Eyre Howry Wuertz Williamson (could prove to be a steal) hill/rusch Prior is great, but i think the position player who plays everyday and plays almost every game each year, plus a pretty darn good replacement would be the way to go.
  15. Possibly using Prior in the Right Deal... Here's the Link... http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5189112
  16. i'll take whatever lineup the Dominican Republic World Cup Team puts out... Look at that roster and tell me someone can pitch through it. This tourney should be a joke, atleast for them
  17. i would do the trade you suggested minus hill... Pavano is just like jeff weaver... good until you put him into the new york spot light... i'd take a flyer on him if patterson, walker and williams netted us cano and pavano...
  18. in my honest opinion, the offense underachieved with the injuries last year. A full year of Dempster means about 10 less blown saves, and the signings of eyre and howry take about 10 losses from the bullepn away since we wont see mitre, welleymeyer , koronka lose games. This team is already 5-10 games better in my opinion, just because of the pitching.
  19. it may have something to do with arbitration and they are waiting so they dont have to give up a draft pick to the cardinals. Thats what the mets are doing with Grudz, waiting til thursday. If cubs sign him now , the cardinals would be dumb not to offer arbitration and pick up a free draft choice for him. i think this is how this all works anyways
  20. Indications are the Cubs may get involved in a multi-player deal. One report of a rumored trade: pitcher Jerome Williams, outfielder Corey Patterson and second baseman Todd Walker to Texas for power-hitting second baseman Alfonso Soriano and outfielder Kevin Mench. from chicagosports.com Then you could then move Soriano for someone if you wanted or keep him and that kills two holes. You know dusty wouldn't play neifi over soriano.
  21. I am loving how Hendry wants top notch setup guys, and atleast 7 starters for the rotation, he's finally tired of getting caught without a direction to go.
  22. No way Cleveland would ever do that. First off they have a farm system full of prospects, plus if you watched any indians games last year then you would see he was their firecracker. I think they would ask for murton and walker at the very least. Walker and Pinto wouldn't help them at all... their looking for another option at 1st base and a backup at 2nd... they wont give up a starter for that... maybe a reliever
  23. Another spot opened up on the 40 man for one of the Rule 5 elgibles.
