  1. Were going to need some of these guys. Say we do sign Adrian either before of after the 2011 season, you have to assume he'll be getting at least the Teixara deal. Couple that with 3-4 more years of Soriano at about 20 mil a pop, and however much more is left on Zambranos deal. That will add up to at least 60 mil for those 3 guys. We need to assume that by that point, Kosukes and Aramis are gone, and while that will free up some money, we'll still need to build around those guys. Castro is a piece that we'll need to hold on to. The Sox were able to land Peavy without giving up Beckham, Im sure we could land Adrian without giving up Castro, it just going to take 3 top prospects and at least 2 more pieces. Peavy is nowhere near as valuable as Gonzalez in a trade.
  2. One team finished a few chances, the other team skated better but couldn't score. So nothing to concern myself about? Works for me. Finish the job on Tuesday. Well, it can happen two more times, that should concern you. And even though I liked how the Blackhawks played tonight, I in no way believe that will affect how they play the next game.
  3. One team finished a few chances, the other team skated better but couldn't score.
  4. If both teams skate like they did tonight for the rest of the series, I really like Chicago's chances.
  5. Oh man, I don't think the Blackhawks could ever recover from a big home loss to the Canucks. If that ever happened, there's no *way* they'd come back and win the next three in a row...
  6. *finally* caught Luongo cheating way too far out.
  7. Then it's fortunate for the Hawks to be really good in Canada then. There is less then 5% chance of Vancouver winning this series. We ain't Ovechkin and Washington, the Hawks ain't choking this series away. At this point, I'd put it more at 20%.
  8. That's not a penalty I would have to see another replay...it is a penalty if it is above the shoulder on a shot. You talking about Byfuglien opening up that guy's head? It's not a penalty if it's part of the natural follow-through of the shot.
  9. The powerful Eastern Illinois University coaching syndicate is keeping it quiet.
  10. I'm not real happy with Sopel either on that second goal. Anytime there's a 2-on-1 and the pass gets completed, I blame the defenseman.
  11. Josh Beckett anyone? Exactly what I was thinking :(
  12. Lifeless, defeated Canucks scare me more. I'd rather they be all fired up and give ups 8 power plays and spend so much time crosschecking Byfuglien that they forget to clear rebounds.
  13. As a Cubs fan, 3-1 leads give me bad feelings.
  14. Whatever, all you had to do was dump the puck in on the goalie from the blue line, get the goalie out of position and walk around him for the open net. Dumbest glitch in any sports game. I've never had a hockey game that didn't have a few easy ways to score sure goals. Then again, EA Sports NHL '94 was the last hockey game I owned.
  15. It's funny to think you can bitch about the refs after we just got 2 seperate 5 on 3's, but there were definitely 1-2 obvious penalties missed there on Vancouver and the penalty on Hossa was iffy at best. I know it. I'm still pissed about that mugging Buff took in front of the net when they only called the DOG. That could have been a major. That last goal was a bite, but still, up two with 20 left on the road with the chance to really put the screws to these bums? I'll take it. TV got it wrong. They called the roughing, and then there was no delay of game because the play was dead as soon as he touched the puck.
  16. Not even close. You have to be clearly one-on-one with the goalie and interfered with from someone behind you.
  17. If the Cubs win a championship, that doesn't mean I have to forgive Bartman. We could have won two if not for him.
  18. Montreal getting an MLS team. The league is determined to water itself down.
  19. If that were true then no team ever outplays an opponent. Sure they do. But that doesn't mean they'll win. Vancouver outplayed the Blackhawks for game 2 and most of game 3, in my estimation. I know I'm overstating it by saying "always," but lucky has a far higher impact in any given hockey game than skill, unless one team is just hopelessly better than the other.
  20. I think you guys are overanalyzing things. Two similarly talented teams will go out and play a hockey game, and the team that gets bounces and breaks will win. Same as always.
  21. I agree. Castro should stay in AA for the next few years, then take a few years to make sure he's got AAA figured out. There's no reason to rush him to Wrigley any sooner than 2015, at the earliest. 243 plate appearances at AA is *totally* all a 20-year-old needs in the minors.
  22. I don't know what you guys are so mad about. Sure, this has been the next step in the "jerk-them-around" process of wasting good, young hitting prospects for the last 15 times, but maybe this time it will be different?
  23. Seabrook is much, much better at clearing the front of the net than anyone Vancouver has.
