Why would it take a trade of Byrd to get a guy who was released? DFA isn't released. They have 10 days to either trade, release or waive him. So if other teams are interested and offering the Red Sox something of value, it might take something of value to get him.
Ray Lankford is probably what I would call a best-case scenario. I'm starting to seriously doubt Jackson will be ready by the end of this season. The K rates are just not sustainable. AAA pitchers are striking him out 32% of the time. SSS, but if that's anywhere near the true rate, then MLB pitchers are going to eat him alive.
A long, long time. Jackson will be up when he is ready, which he isn't. AAA pitchers are K-ing him 30% of the time, so MLB pitchers would eat him alive. Campana will come up if they absolutely get sick of Byrd.
Two starts have taken you from liking the move at the time to not liking it? I expect this stupid reactionary [expletive] from a lot of people but not you. 1) Thanks, but I'm the biggest whiner on the board.* 2) It's the game thread. We don't have to be rational in the game thread. *- non-Sully division
Remember that we know nothing more about Randy Wells or Travis Wood than we did before the season started, but we're building for the future by letting this guy take up starts. (shut up, I know I liked the move at the time)
Maholm made the last out. Shut up. This game is stupid. You should've pretended that you were joking that Reed Johnson is the pitcher lolz This game is making me dumber than I already was.
I remember one year in the 1990s that I was very excited because every player or 7/8 in the Cubs' regular lineup had been an all-star at some point in their careers.
