  1. There is no way Kerry Wood's WPA was just -0.37 going into today.
  2. I'm not going to be mad because that was about the best I hoped for out of that inning.
  3. Hahahaha. Wood walks Furcal on four pitches. Skip Schumaker's first thought is "Man, I can't wait to hack at the first pitch."
  4. I'm dead serious that I think we've found ourselves Adam Dunn 2.0. A tiny bit more BA and a tiny bit less power, but basically a clone. Please hold them to one, Kerry.
  5. Some peripherals: Career K%: 27.3% 2012 K%: 20.6% I'm very encouraged that they may really have been able to tweak something in his swing.
  6. Step 1: LaHair to left, Rizzo to first, Soriano to a used car dealership. Step 2: Convince Ian Stewart to stop sleeping with John Q. Babip's wife while Geovany Soto watches. Step 3: Fix the bullpen. Step 4: Celebrate division title.
  7. Winning is awesome. Winning against the Cardinals is doubly awesome.
  8. This is an organization that provides every player with detailed scouting packets before every game. If they didn't like all the bunting, Sveum would know about it.
  9. One run vs. Cardinals Magic and the Cubs' bullpen. Not nearly enough.
  10. I hate not being able to watch the game, but there is something supremely satisfying about "In play, run(s)" Although for a very brief moment I thought maybe Soriano had actually homered. Foolish wish.
  11. I like how this team has become likable enough to make people cranky when they aren't winning.
  12. The problem won't be their BABIP. It'll be that they'll be about the 12th best team in baseball but somehow win yet another World Series.
  13. More Stewart love: Career K rate: 27.3% This season: 20.9% Theo and Co. really did see something they could fix.
  14. I'm at work and following on gameday. He is hitting .500 on the day, can't blame him for the scoreless night so far.
  15. He means they didn't before now. David asked if this was new to the organization.
  16. I still wonder what happened to Felix Pie. Meatballs like to moan about prospects that didn't pan out, but they fall into a lot of different categories. Corey Patterson was a pretty useful player for awhile. Brooks Kieshnick wasn't really all that great of a prospect and just got hyped because there was no one else to hype. I still think Kevin Orie got BABIPed out of the league unfairly. But I don't know what happened with Pie. Scouts loved him, he played a premium defensive position well, and he hit at every step of the minors at a relatively young age. I guess he K'd a bit too much in the minors, but nothing egregious. Then he got the majors and all of a sudden lolz can't hit at all.
  17. I am pretty sure that's not true http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/7098129
  18. LaHair. No, wait. Cardenas. He'd have to shovel it to home plate.
