Using ERA as the pitcher's tell all stat that it one was, no, Travis Wood is not a sub 2.00 pitcher. Still, there's more than luck to it. Luck doesn't take 4 middling at best pitchers and transform them into studs. I expect that once the smoke clears, Travis Wood will be the type of pitcher that your average big league team would love as their 3 starter. I'm not going into the "No. X starter" stuff. Wood is an average-ish starting pitcher, and I love that about him. But he's been insanely lucky, including today when he's not pitched particularly well (something J.D. mentioned as well) but has gotten away with it. I do love that he adds a little value with his bat.
