  1. I had no idea there were people left for whom social wasn't the primary board.
  2. Jeter had a 10.6% BB rate in Rk/A his first season and 9.8% in A the next season. Almora had 6.3% at the same age/level this year as Jeter's second season. For all the talk that our minor leaguers can develop patience, it sure seems like guys who have it tend to show it right out of the gate.
  3. I can *kind* of see why they might think that a leadoff walk leads to more multiple-run innings than a leadoff home run. The defensive inefficiency of holding on a runner, putting the pitcher into a stretch. But the chance for a DP completely buries those factors.
  4. I do think BP's Almora love is a bit crazybuckets.
  5. Boston team now in position to probably win a championship. That never goes wrong...
  6. Bryant is crushing the AFL to Fuldian degrees. Maybe even Duboisian.
  7. I love the timing of the comment - "No idea why they're holding him on", and the incredulous, somewhat cocky laugh right before he gets picked off ending the game. That is the greatest thing in the history of things.
  8. great news, Pujols is finally leaving the Cardinals and they will suck now
  9. Maybe they won't formally confirm who the three are and there will be lots of conflicting reports about whether we are or not.
  10. We won't be one of the top 3, but there will be lots of rumors that we were probably the fourth team.
  11. I hope Boston fans are having fun because this series isn't coming back to Fenway.
  12. Most Cardinals way of taking the lead ever.
  13. It seems to be to load up on power, even when it means accepting lower OBP to get it. Other than Schierholz, I'm not sure where you're getting that idea. Rizzo ranks higher in power than he does in OBP. Navarro has a bit more power than OBP. We were 8th in SLG last year and 14th in OBP. None of our draft picks have been OBP monsters.
  14. Ricketts would have to have the balls to successfully get leverage by threatening to leave the city. Ricketts would have to have the resources and acumen to make that threat credible before his balls would matter, and he doesn't.
  15. It seems to be to load up on power, even when it means accepting lower OBP to get it.
  16. Honestly, we've done very little to improve OBP organizationally in the last two years. I'm wondering if that's really still a philosophy.
  17. We really shouldn't be putting any resources into the bullpen. We've already spent money and time and roster spots building up a ton of interesting (although not amazing) arms. Got to see what they can do.
  18. I mean trading Samardzija for a near ready highly regarded early 20's SP and another piece wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I don't think it'd be terrible, either. But only from the sense that we're in a terrible spot and it doesn't make things any more terrible to do it.
  19. We're seriously going to be sellers this offseason, aren't we?
  20. Maybe that already happened. It would explain so much.
  21. And the worst part is Ricketts would find a way to lose that suit and have the damages be worse than they were asking for.
  22. Some of the scouting reports on Bryant from the AFL have been pretty glowing, too.
  23. Nearby owner sues to block Wrigley hotel: http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20131023/BLOGS04/131029919/apartment-landlord-sues-to-block-wrigley-hotel
