    I'm not sure why they would. It should be a no-brainer sign for the elite postings. The player has little leverage and you can still probably get him for a fraction of his open-market value.

    I am told the Cubs were in on him right to the end. Oakland gave up more than what the Cubs thought he was worth. Cubs' FO thrives on drawing hard lines on players and slapping themselves on the back for coming in second on them. I'll leave it to others to decide if that's a good or bad thing.

    Basically, if the Bears are healthy and in the playoffs they are dangerous. But neither of those qualifiers seems likely at the moment.

    MLB supposedly wants the max bid to be $20m. I assume anything low enough to get us truly involved would be low enough for the Astros or White Sox to bid max.

    Taking it literally at that level works too, but an even better way to look at it is to understand that somewhere between 47 and 40 is where the odds begin to uptick considerably with every yard.

    Knowing the accuracy rates on 45-50 yd kicks is a huge dip compared with just a little closer is exactly the sort of thing I expect Trestman to know. Just trusting his kicker because he's been hot lately is what I'd expect from a dumber coach.

    This is where it all falls apart: Even Robbie Gould isn't *that* good at 47-yard kicks, hot streak or not. Moving up another 5-10 yards makes a *huge* difference in his accuracy rates. And throw in the fact that a tie was just as good for the Bears, so you had a chance to run more time off the clock and make it harder for the Vikings to score if something did go wrong.

    They're hockey players. Nothing of value would be damaged. I assume he values his feet. Not as much as CC does.

    The great part about drafting offense is that outside of running back, the successful picks tend to last longer. Side note: In a league averaging 25 ppg, we're all furious at the defense in a 23-20 loss that went deep into OT.
