  1. That was a dirty, dirty high hit. I hate this stuff no matter who does it.
  2. Bickell didn't do a great thing there, but St. Louis player made it worse by trying to dodge the hit when he didn't have time to.
  3. We're still winning this in five.
  4. Platoons work. Barney got confidence against a lefty and it let him hit the righty.
  5. Oh look, a righty facing Olt and he brettjacksons.
  6. Edwin Jackson ERA 4.71 xFIP 4.50 He's finally just this guy.
  7. I doubt it. That kid was a total turd. I think he moved and changed schools after being thrown into a dumpster.
  8. Welington Castillo is kinda worthless when he's not BABIPing .350
  9. I'm the other kid in this story, the redhead. I'll get my books knocked out by the jocks, but I'll be damned if CT thinks he's gonna take his half-witted shots at me.
  10. Trying to deflect the discussion to Cubs baseball in the game thread? I'm weird like that. Jackson ERA: 4.95 xFIP 4.53. Closest they've been in awhile.
  11. When I was in high school, of course I got picked on a ton. I didn't exactly deserve it, but I didn't make things easier on myself either. A common tactic was "toasting," which was knocking a kid's books all out of their hands in the hallways. I was hardly the only nerd in the class, so I figured maybe if I picked on a different loser I could up my status a little bit. One day after biology I snuck up behind this scrawny redheaded kid and went for it. I failed to actually knock any books out of his hand and almost fell down myself in the process. This is what you have been doing on NSBB lately.
  12. Says the guy hoping against hope that abuck gives him a pat on the head or treymon gives him a 7.0 or higher. Edwin Jackson's ERA and xFIP might finally meet today.
  13. Seriously. Leave it to abuck, imb, and occasionally treymon. Those guys are funny. I can barely be bothered to brush you off the nuts you are trying to hang off of here.
  14. In your case I wouldn't try wittier either. Go for a gimme putt like being taller.
  15. If you set the roster up the right way, I wouldn't hate having Vitters up and getting 30 starts a year against lefties at 1b.
  16. And failing pretty badly. As usual, I'm winning. abuck's got the right idea in trying to be wittier without trying to be smarter. It's most of you's only hope.
  17. Don't mistake my disinterest in what you want for ignorance of it.
  18. Swing-and-miss percentage against righties: 2012 AA: 30.6% 2013 AAA: 37.5% 2014 MLB: 33.3% 2011-onward minor league OPS (because that's what minorleaguecentral covers): vs. L OPS: .960 vs. R OPS .790 And just visually, he's clearly got some holes in his swing vs. righties that MLB pitchers will exploit consistently. Right-handed breaking stuff completely befuddles him.
  19. I've been overestimating the Reds. Once they finish burning out this crop of pitchers, they'll be the division's buttmonkeys for a long time.
  20. If you stick to platooning him, you can squeeze some value out of him. If your roster is set up to platoon 3b, he's a good option for the short end of it.
  21. I *like* it when Olt hits home runs. I hope he hits 47 more this year.
  22. Mike Olt hit a home run against a lefty! That sure proves how dumb the Cubs are for making him the lefty-hitting half of a platoon.
