  1. There seems to be a nice base here to build off of for 2015 once we fix the holes, but every time I think that, new holes spring up. I wonder what will fall apart next year.
  2. There's a day 3? This thing got pretty pointless about 250 picks ago
  3. On the other hand, it would make more sense to judge a draft based on what they were capable of doing. Eh, it's just stupid semantics. If you draft 30th and get the 15th talent, you had a "great" draft, but 14 teams did better than you, so is it really all that great? They did a great job having an OK draft.
  4. Cease's twitter history is fantastic.
  5. you can only have a great draft once every 27 years, got it Well, once ever. That moment has passed. Unless another guy named Bryce Harper ever becomes draft eligible.
  6. It's huge, but it's also worth noting that the league-average FIP down there is like 3.3 or something.
  7. Meh. I'd rather have one guy in the top 3 than every single guy from 150-199. I can't call it a great draft. A great draft is when you have 1.1 and Bryce Harper is sitting there. They made the best of a frustrating spot with No. 4 in a three-player draft.
  8. Ah, the old Vogelbach fallacy. Except Vogelbach's bat isn't that good.
  9. Atlanta made it last year. Shut up
  10. Do you know what that would have done to our farm-system rankings?
  11. That'd be five different teams than made the playoffs in the NL last year. So 2/3rds of the league in the playoffs in a two-year span.
  12. But the big bat was getting full slot. Maybe Schwarber is too? (not really)
  13. Besides Kris Bryant, which player that was drafted are you most impressed with in the Theo/Jed era? Pierce Johnson
  14. Cubs:underslot savings::Andy Dwyer:Lions
  15. Huh. At first glance, I like him way better than Zas.
  16. Also the White Sox are a bit over .500. Please tell me the Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox are all battling for last place. Red Sox had a 10-game losing streak, but they aren't in last because now Tampa Bay is on a 10-game loser of their own. Yankees and Dodgers are both a game over .500.
  17. There aren't any advantages any more. I mean, yeah, you can still way overpay for guys when they become FA, but it's hard to get good players when you can't pick high and you can't overpay for amateurs. Pfft, yeah, you can still get major leaguers, but who wants them? If you can't pay Shawon Dunston Jr. $1m, then there's not really any advantage at all...
  18. The competitive balance picks aren't that bad. As long as you aren't a fan of some dumb team that is throwing away all the advantages that come with being a big market team that make up for them.
  19. Tied for it. They'd have to play a division tiebreaker game with the Braves, winner gets the Brewers in the NLDS.
  20. It won't happen, but it'd be hilarious if we took another position player at 45
