  1. Wait, what? Now I want to like anime just to spite you.
  2. Russell *just* took two days off to get here and Soler probably pulled his hamstring on his way to see the lineup board anyway.
  3. That would be hilarious.
  4. I almost bought that last week, because I heard people talking about it and it was on sale. Should I be afraid? If you like anime I guess you'd like it but also if you like anime then you should stockpile on sandwich supplies for eating them by yourself a lot.
  5. Last week I decided "fine, one more shot" and watched the first episode of Attack on Titan on Hulu and had nightmares for two days.
  6. I know a guy who keeps trying to get me to watch anime and it's just weird as all hell and not in a fun way. I'm the nerdiest nerd who ever nerded and I still look down on anime people.
  7. What would Kyle do if he had a million dollars? Pretty much the same thing I do now.
  8. i get that you're making fun, but honestly, it's so sad that guys like sullivan, rogers, rogers, telander, haugh, morrissey, muskat, etc. have actual jobs and he can't find one. i mean, most of that list is HOF of terrible worthy. Sharma made a career switch into an industry that is very difficult to break into (sports journalism) The people you mentioned are all older than he is and probably spent a lot of time freelancing or doing crap jobs to make connections and become full-time writers before getting their current jobs. It's stupid, but it's the way it is. I'm sure that he will get his if he keeps it up. TBF, most of the old guys probably broke in during the 1980s and early 1990s when it was an amazing time to be a journalist.
  9. .420 BABIP is totes sustainable Trout's was .406, and Bryant is hitting home runs about 5x as often as he did. The question is not 'Will Bryant's average come down?", it's "How much?" Especially considering he's done this at every level with an offseason in between, and his overall production is increasing as he escalates through the system, it's fair to think that maybe he's better at getting hits than a cursory 'K rate is high, his average will plummet!" look would indicate. Whether or fair or not, I'm pretty sure it's wrong.
  10. I'm pretending Sahadev's third-hand reports from whatever scouts will talk to him don't matter. But mostly it's just funny because everybody in the world who pays attention to Cubs prospects has noticed that Almora is hitting the crap out of the balll, so it's an odd time to play the "I have top secret reports!" card on him. Does he have a scouting source to tell me that Jake Arrieta looks awesome this year? Did some grizzled, middle-aged man with a radar gun and a stopwatch tell him that Kris Bryant has really good power?
  11. .420 BABIP is totes sustainable
  12. The Cubs are being quite aggressive with promotions. Bryant hasn't even been a pro for a full year yet and he's got a month of AAA under his belt. Cubs fans being bored and screaming for promotions and not getting them != Cubs being cautious
  13. Because they aren't serious prospects.
  14. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/07/07/cashman-on-wfan-yankees-were-in-on-cubs-pitchers-right-to-the-end/ Also, that more or less confirms that Theo does all the real work and Hoyer just fetches coffee or something.
  15. Don't be one of those dorks who lists OPS in the last ... oh wait, that's just his SLG
  16. Edwin Jackson has personally debunked peripherals-based pitcher metrics for all time. Everyone start going back to ERA+.
  17. Dude we don't want to overreact to small samples. Plus he's got a .000 BABIP.
