  1. Baez is hitting really well lately, switching positions, and is approaching 400 PAs in AAA. I wonder if we're not going to get a surprise soon.
  2. He's like one good binge away from 50 being in sight.
  3. Has anyone even homered yet? this night is dumb
  4. Astros' SBN site headline: "It happened. It sucks."
  5. In what way? I don't think teams are supposed to be directly negotiating with "advisors."
  6. Yup, this. Aiken is worth many, many times this on the open market, even if his elbow had already snapped (despite lol pitchers). The draft is such +EV for teams that there's very little to be gained other than the satisfaction of not flinching.
  7. Not if we suck enough to get the #1 overall pick It'll even suck then because if there's a clear No. 1 pick, he'll have the Astros' massive signing pool whispering promises into his ear.
  8. Appears not, they weren't on MILB.tv
  9. If things go like we hope they do for the big club in the next year or two, a lot of people are going to start coming back out of the woodwork, I think. I'm curious to see just who returns. Still, hard to believe it's been 11 years. Still remember when JC came into the game thread out of nowhere for Rizzo's debut. A tough one to handicap would be whether Jon or Chocolate Milk would be more likely to come back. Chocolate Milk did come back.
  10. Right here meaning netting (often significant) value in every deal, and hitting on all significant draft and IFA picks. Practically every deal they've made has improved the organization overall, and if you take into account the difference in player development, even the assets that were here have improved stock markedly. We're a long way from spiking the football on the 2012 draft. And the "net significant value in every deal" metric is probably true, but it ignores the fact that they've had some assets depreciate significantly because they were holding out for such a deal.
  11. I can't wait until we take the best college bat next year again.
  12. All of a sudden they are all mashing in AA or higher and the "all-prospect" lineups don't seem quite as crazy.
  13. Most Castro down to behind Baez and push everyone else up one.
  14. He's struggling to get his OPS to .700 in A+.
  15. Jackson kidnapped Travis Wood and has been taking his starts left-handed. Our rotation is actually like 83% Jackson.
  16. How underrated has he become? With all the fanfare about the top guys he continues to be solid every start. Needs more strikeouts.
  17. Just for a moment I'm going to indulge in the fantasy that this is real and that the front office actually is really good at player development *and* they've accumulated the best collection of young hitting prospects baseball has seen in several decades and it's all going to go according to plan.
  18. Russell HR too. It seems like we rarely go a night of games without multiple elite prospects homering.
  19. Sure, Rumplestiltskin spun straw into gold, but that's easy to do when you have so much straw to work with and time to do it. We're not giving enough credit to the guy that provided all the straw. Yeah. That's totally what happened.
  20. He had a 4.50 ERA in 20 innings. Nothing egregious in Arizona.
