  1. We're about to face a million lefties in a row? Sounds like a great time to call up a certain right-handed AAA infielder.
  2. was it like jordan awkward? He was totally nervous and completely uncomfortable, almost made it difficult to watch Sounds like he needed a drink. Hopefully he gets one before the drive home.
  3. I'm prematurely convinced now that Hendricks can hold down starting spot credibly in 2015. At least 1.5 WAR, maybe more.
  4. Maybe if you'd been running instead of admiring, Castillo, that would have been a triple. Ass.
  5. Kyle Hendricks pitching while Greg Maddux gives his HOF speech is just God trolling me.
  6. These are the only games I can watch on the TV instead of the laptop. Woohoo.
  7. Inability to hit the next level of pitching. Being able to hit is the hardest thing to scout. You can't just eyeball the difference between a guy who facing the next level of pitchers will turn into a .280 hitter vs. a .220 hitter.
  8. Then Bryant singles and Soler doubles, both solid line drives. Seriously, I feel bad for any minor-league lefty sent out there against those guys.
  9. Baez gets his OPS at Iowa up to .808. Which is good, because he doesn't have much time left there to improve it.
  10. Javybomb Why would you put a lefty out there?
  11. Signing him or someone like him would make the HomeGrown Lineup 2015 more or less a reality.
  12. Greg Maddux saying pitching to contact doesn't exist: http://m.mlb.com/chc/video/topic/6003532/v31294925/greg-maddux-on-entering-hall-of-fame-in-2014/?c_id=chc (roughly 3 minute mark) :yahoo: \:D/

  14. Because we're kinda meatbally and fell in love with Almora's intangibles.
  15. With Ramirez in Iowa, who would you take in one game as the favorite: Iowa Cubs starting Kyle Hendricks (I know, he's not on them anymore) vs. Chicago Cubs starting Travis Wood (a bad lefty going up against all those RH power hitters)
  16. Nah, they wouldn't screw with someone who has a future with the team like that. I'm worried he's injured. Didn't they hold Rizzo down for months when he was more than ready at AAA? Kinda apples and oranges with your franchise player and a late-inning reliever, no? The standard put forth was "someone who has a future with the team."
  17. 25-year-old reliever can't handle a 60-inning pace (forgot to include his AAA innings) with 3 IP over two weeks? That's concerning.
  18. Yeah, FIP doesn't apply to Jaxon. Maybe not to Lefty Jaxon either, but I hope it does.
  19. He has more HR/PA the last two years than Vogelbach, while younger and at higher levels.

  21. Wow Chris Young is 90th and his baseball card stats are solid. Can someone explain FIP to an old man? I know nothing about it Basically, it takes HRs, BBs and Ks and converts them into something that looks like ERA. It's actually better at predicting ERA than actual ERA is, so the assumption is that it represents a "luck and defense removed" ERA. So what is considered bad/mediocre/average/above average/excellent FIP if you had to give a range? I'm lost on a lot of the newer stats. Same as ERA, that's one of the selling points.
  22. Please be stretching him out to start. I'd love that, but it seems an odd time of the year for that. It is. It's also odd to say that he needs a "breather" when he's on pace for like 50 IP and has a total of 3 in the last two weeks.
