Cards announcers were talking about how he's a cautionary tale for Cubs prospects, but you could tell the PBP guy was worried before he even finished his sentence Soler might run out of the dugout and hit another HR against them even though the Cubs are on defense.

Soler could Olt or Lake his way through the rest of the year and he'd still finish above replacement.

11 picks are protected this year, right, because the Astros are picking twice? So we'd still have to finish with the 10th worst record but we'd be picking 11th in that case. Correct. We are still 2.5 games behind the Mets for the 12th pick, which is the first unprotected spot. And we hold the tiebreaker over everyone around us except for the White Sox.

Cubs are in line to draft 9th and on pace to avoid 90 losses.

He's on pace for like 7 wins at 24, and it isn't the first time he's played at this pace. If all they ask for is Baez, Almora and a couple of lesser guys, you thank them for their generosity. (I know, I'm completely bipolar on this issue).
