  1. I've always been kind of under the assumption that front offices were doing all kinds of cool statistical stuff behind the scenes that outsiders never thought of. Seeing them basically fall in love with pitch framing the same time everyone else does is kinda disappointing.
  2. Sure. I'm not in a hurry to get rid of Cutler. But he still isn't near the player he was two years ago. And no, his stats this year don't disprove that. I don't know what stats you're talking about. Sure, he turns the ball over, but he's always thrown INTs and always will. his fumbles are mostly a function of how many times he's sacked. his average fumble per sack was exactly the same as Rodgers's this season, pretty much average. I said he was worse despite his stats looking superficially good because they were always trailing and because NFL passing stats are off the charts right now. Not because of his stats. 2012 Cutler *always* put the ball where he wanted it to go. Sometimes he wanted it to go stupid places, but he didn't miss the throw itself. 2014 Cutler missed throws all the damn time.

  4. I will when Jay quits missing a [expletive]-ton of throws.
  5. Jeffrey, Cutler and Bennett are not old. Forte still appears to have a year or two left in him. Cutler is old and physically breaking down. Jeffrey and Bennett are OK, I guess.
  6. The talent on that side of the ball is all old and falling apart.
  7. Contact rate loses the sample size issues insanely quickly, and unusually high strikeouts are one of the few stats shown to have some predictivity from ST to regular season. Ability to put bat to ball is such a fundamental skill with the most clean relationship between skill and short-term results. Failing at it at lower levels of competition just can't be seen as anything other than problematic. But I guess I'm at the same place as I was before winter league: Whatever. He's incredibly hard to predict, it's hard to accept how high the chances are that he sucks, and I'd be relieved more than upset if they went into 2015 without him in the lineup.
  8. CFs suck on average and he added a lot via baserunning.
  9. Hawks win shootout after coming back from down 3-0 and 4-3. Niiiiice.
  10. Baez' winter league stats are every bit as predictive as Junor Lake's. Incorrect
  11. It may be meaningless because winter league, but the sample size isn't an issue. The sample is more than large enough to decide that his K-rate there is too damn high.
  12. They're scared he'll cry and it will be awkward as hell.
  13. I wonder what we could get for trading down.
  14. Not acknowledging how much worse Cutler has gotten than he was when he got here isn't meatball, but it is wrong.
  15. And that is how I will always remember the Mel Tucker era.
  16. Just a bad throw from Cutler.
  17. I'm wondering if these are highly trained professional bodyguards or his friends being handed guns and paid to hang out with him?

  19. Specifically speaking, standing pat on an 83-win team is a good way to shorten your dynasty by a year.
  20. Putting aside the costs for a moment, Shields and Zobrist probably make us slight favorites over the Cardinals for the division.
  21. I don't even see why this is a question because looking at the talent-for-prospect deals this offseason, Zobrist shouldn't cost anywhere near Baez or Russell.
  22. Yes. 10%? I dunno. I wanna say like 30%? But it's a WAG.
