Williams' entire thing is supposed to be his ability to throw despite being pressured.
I'm not going to jump off the train after 2/3rds of one game, but "but he's being pressured" can't be an excuse for being this bad.
I might change my mind when I see tape breakdowns, but my working theory is that Williams is struggling with his footwork due to nerves/defensive line pressure and that's causing the missed throws.
If Caleb Williams doesn't brutally miss two open deep throws, and Allen doesn't drop a perfectly placed touchdown pass, then the offensive line wouldn't seem so pressing.
That's something I saw on his college tape: Williams thinks he can overpower defenders and no-sell tackles behind the LOS. He's nowhere near big and strong enough to get away with it in the NFL.
I'd like to missed throws to slow down. He's had more of them than I'd like in the preseason and then missing Allen down the sidelines today.
I'm 100% convinced the Bears are a better team than the Titans. I'm not gonna pretend they aren't just to manage potential disappointment if they have a bad game.
