  1. Being up 2-1 with a chance of going home for a Game 5 is nothing compared to being down 2-1 with Clayton Kershaw lurking Good grief, this isn't fun regardless but the mental gymnastics to exaggerate further are silly. Yes, the Cubs faced plenty of adversity when they won a 1-0 game late, came back in the 9th before losing in extra innings, and then down 3 runs in the 9th facing an elimination game against Cueto. Being down a couple runs midway thru game 3 of a 7 game series is not at the top of the list. You're objectively wrong that the Giants situation was worse than this, probability wise.
  2. They might. They probably won't, and they will probably lose the series
  3. Keyshaw and Hill each have one more start to might as well treat the rest of the series as a development opportunity. Almost over Fowler, give Montgomery and Zas starts, etc.
  4. Maybe we can get our mandatory 3-game playoff losing streak out of the way and still come back
  5. "And the amazing back to back homers were the last runs they scored until they were trailing midway through game 5" feels like something that would happen in a Cubs LCS
  6. No runs tonight. Maybe gonna rent Ghostbusters extended edition instead and come back later
  7. Nope. Soler was camped under it. I don't care if his mom wrote his name on it and it came with a box of her cookies, if the CF calls you back off.
  8. The problem I have with 538's forecast right now is that they seem to be defaulting to a very large generic pitcher bonus for all the games the Dodgers haven't announced a starter for.
  9. How good the two have been at pitching respectively in 2016. Hill has like a full run advantage in FIP. All the Cubs pitchers have higher FIPs than their ERAs partially because of reasons we already know. You would know better than I would how that translates to evaluating Arrieta vs. Hill but I sense you are trying to make us all worry about an Arrieta/Hill matchup. I'm not saying we should worry. I'm saying it is silly to confidently state a pitching advantage. At best it looks like a wash. Arrieta really has been meh for awhile no matter how much we wish to deny it, but he does have a durability advantage.
  10. how the two pitchers performed this year? Hill is just as likely to be pitchcounted by the 5th or leave in the 2nd with blisters as he is to shut down the office for 6+. I get that Arrieta hasn't had a dominant year but I'd still rather have the guy who's demonstrated an ability to shut down teams and go deep in games against the guy who's been basically an above average to very good long reliever this year. If it ends up being bullpen v bullpen I like our chances. Also, it's sort of disingenuous to cite FIP as the difference when the Cubs have a truly elite defense behind their pitchers. (@ Kyle, not you) Ok, but their ERA difference is the same too
  11. I don't think Dodgers are terrified of Arrieta's 10 ER in 17 innings in his last 3
  12. The Cubs do not have the pitching advantage in game 3 Based on what? How good the two have been at pitching respectively in 2016. Hill has like a full run advantage in FIP.
  13. Look at the pitching match-ups for games 3 & 4 and that should calm any panic. The Cubs do not have the pitching advantage in game 3
  14. Won 8-4. Apparently the Cubs games are causing our scores and not the other way around.
  15. I was busy till the seventh, checked the score on my phone, then was busy some more, then saw that they lost. Someone in our hockey game got in a yelling match with someone in the stands. Promises were made to meet each other outside after the game, which I do not believe happened. It will be cool if the Cubs win three of the next five and kinda lame if they don't. It will happen either way based on some random baseball [expletive]. Eat at Arby's.
  16. About to hit the locker room, fully expect to come out to 7-0 lead in a few hours
  17. I don't see what else we can ask for right now. Im sorry, but Jay cant have the job back as long as Hoyer is playing [expletive] this. What do you do for next year in that case? Cut Jay, draft a QB, and ride with Hoyer? The first two seem inevitable at this point.
  18. I've got a hockey game tonight so I've superstitiously decided that the Cubs' fate is tied to that. And we always best this team, so no worries
