  1. I am now completely, irrationally convinced the Cubs win this game
  2. I really really like the idea of a lefty bullpen game 7 if it gets there. Arrieta hasn't been the guy we want him to be for months.
  3. I'm still not looking forward to facing Kershaw and Hill again. Winning tonight is not literally mandatory, but as close as it practically gets.
  4. Funny how not facing tough lefties healed Rizzo from his broken foreverness.
  5. Pitcher hits being the theme of the playoffs is so fun
  6. Yay. But that was an awful send with no outs, no matter who was coming up
  7. If you had predicted Fowler's homer was the last run of the season for the Cubs, you would be 58% of the way to right.
  8. Nice crappy throw Heyward. That replay could go either way
  9. 75% of teams who lose Game 3, lose the series That's intentionally leaving out a lot of important information.
  10. That feels like cheating pretty bad on the stat when it's technically true but ignores teams that have been around for 50+ years but never won.
  11. 50% of teams tied 2-2 go on to win the series, axiomatically 15% of teams down 1-3 have gone on to win their series So tonight is kinda big.
  12. Well the good news is that just like losses matter a lot, so do wins. A win tonight improves matters considerably.
  13. A loss tonight would give the Cubs a three-game losing streak for the seventh straight playoff appearance.
  14. The goal should be to win every game. Every playoff loss significantly lowers your chances of winning. Last night was not just a "margin of error."
  15. It's funny how people only pay attention to the negative posts. We've all made them and I've been positive up until the last few innings. There are three reasons people post in a game thread like this. Dumb bravado to convince yourself it is fine, over the top negativity to let it out, or attack the negative people to feel better for a second. If you aren't willing to take their frustration, don't post the second type.
  16. Two of them started by pitchers we absolutely cannot touch. And that is best case scenario.
