    I reiterate that if the Cubs don't finish at least 5 games ahead of the Brewers, I don't even want the division title. And 5 is pretty embarrassing even then.

    It’s 75 here, a couple of blocks from Petco and I’ve had 2 locals apologize for the heat. You must live in inland OC (don’t call it that). The folks who live by the immediate coast in California live a different, cooler life. I was gonna get snooty about how SD is just a poor man's LA, so I deserve this.

    It started when he was in like AA and he was talking about how great his team's lineup was, and he knew himself and two other top-100 prospects. He went down the list saying "some guy" for everyone else. And IMB was right, that kind of stuff seems *hilarious* and not annoying in retrospect.

    The aces only being 96% to win reminds me that a lot of poker odds are not intuitive. How so? The middle pair of Kings could have put together a flush that would have won the hand. The odds of putting together a flush using four board cards, or getting 9-K straight with only the K in hand, is apparently 4%. That's higher than it feels like it should be.

    There will never be another slumping or broken player who doesn't get a "actually his peripherals" are fine posts. There's enough peripherals now that there's always some that are fine.

    There's two different ways of counting LOB. Most people just do it at the end of the inning. Sometimes some weirdos count it by PA, so that if there's runners on 1st and 2nd and no out, and three straight guys strike out, it counts as 6 LOB.

    Most people aren't great people and professional athletes come from a pool selected for aggression and self-focus. Most of them are jerks. It's not a big deal.
