1. Baseball is mostly liked by white American men, and white American men are an incredibly racist demographic. St. Louis is worse, but Cubs fans are pretty bad too.
2. They fucked your mom too many times and their legs gave out.
3. i'm starting to think more big picture at this point and wondering how we're going to overcome the darvish/quintana moves while several key position players are taking steps back. the emergence of baez makes up for a lot of it, but damn. Any gaps in the position players will be filled with Bryce Harper. The pitchers? Who knows, they're pitchers. Some random turd who throws 86 MPH or some career nobody from Baltimore with a 5.something ERA might become stars overnight. Or they might not. I'm not saying it's gonna be fine. I guess I'm saying I never thought we were on some magic path to no adversity to begin with. We already banked our WS so who even cares.
4. We're gonna get caught by the Cardinals and it's gonna be hilarious.
5. They're fine, but they were doing the same "tank for a five-year-window" that everyone else is doing, not setting us up for some permanent run.
6. It's really not. This is what happens to pitchers, especially pitchers with arm injuries in their past. We've been lucky it hasn't happened more often.
7. Good news: 4.5 up now Bad news: VPASRD barely moved the last two nights
8. Hamels is awesome. Lester is fixed. Hendricks is fine. We're gonna be ok after all.
9. Schwarber homing in that direction in that park is a fun callback.
10. The main thing is that regular season baseball is boring and 50 games too long, and we gotta do what we gotta do to drum up some excitement.
11. The VRD is just retaliation for the incessant “if you take a different encouraging stat from every pitcher, they’re actually good” posts
12. I actually looked at the whole NL standings for the first time probably all year, and it's just weird. WTH are Atlanta and Arizona doing up there, and why is LA on the outside looking in. And isn't St. Louis supposed to be having a bad year and not 0.5 out? The Nats have got to be done. That's too much ground to make up on too many teams.
13. Be honest, you really wouldn’t I'd be OK with the whole thing going down in flames too. It's the middle ground that is boring.
14. If Lester’s arm fell off his body in the next 5 minutes, the Cubs would have a better chance of winning than they do now
15. "His shoulder injury might be permanently damaging him as a hitter but at least he had a .787 OPS in 47 July PAs before throwing in the towel" is peak Duke and he didn't even post it.
16. Ok the good news is after today I believe we can beat the Brewers in the WC game
17. This team is more “win this one but limp to 4-6 in their next 10” than “give up soul crushing grand slam here.” Not worried.
18. You don’t remember when everyone made fun of me for abandoning plans to watch the US Chess Championships in St. Louis because of the Ferguson protests? I can't be expected to remember all of the scenarios under which we have made fun of you The insane memory for stuff like that is the best part of this place.
19. not only are these the first two walks of albert almora's career, they represented the first (and second) three-ball counts he's ever seen.
20. Len & JD speculating he did something falling down trying to catch a ball That’s always a good guess even if you weren’t watching the game.
