  1. I'm super checked out on any baseball that isn't Cubs. Why is Atlanta good all of a sudden?
  2. I miss the drama surrounding the division. Now I'm just bored waiting for the playoffs.
  3. I don't think anything involving having to worry about whether our No. 2 overall picked QB is any good is a 'best case scenario.' *Maybe* if he is a problem we can still salvage a real championship window out of this year or next year, but it's gonna be pretty hard.
  4. Sorry, I meant two. You're lucky if you get two years out of an elite defense. We can't complain about Trubisky looking like balls because it's just two games, but two games from the defense (one of which they got carved up in a 4th-quarter collapse) means we should pencil them in to be elite for three years.
  5. Just imagine how bad this team would be without Mack. The issue is this isn't a "they'll grow into it" situation. They don't have any future first round picks. They have to win with what they have. That was a good show by the defense, although they still get gashed a bit too much for an elite defense, and the weapons are obviously all there on offense. Taylor Gabriel would have been the #1 receiver on past Bears teams. It was all set up on a platter for Mitch to shine, and he didn't. I'm not upset with the 24-17 win. They covered. But I'm disappointed in Mitch's misses. It is though. It's been 2 games. Granted, these are going to be the guys that are going to have to get it done in the next 3 years, but they don't have to get it done today. Even still, they have led all but 2 minutes of time so far this year. Elite defenses don't last three years. You're *lucky* if an elite defense lasts one.
  6. That isn't because he is getting better. That's because they stopped letting him throw anything other than 6-yard curls and screens.
  7. Counterpoint: Stipulating that 8 yards downfield between the hash marks doesn't count, how many *good* throws did you see him make last night? Three? He only had so few because he was being babied by the playbook pretty heavily. He's got some serious training wheels on and still can't make all the throws.
  8. If this team isn't good enough to beat the second-best team in the division or to blow out a completely brutal team like the Raiders, then it isn't ready to compete for more than a thin shot at a wild-card and a one-and-out. And if it's not ready to do that now, then it probably won't ever be, because more first-round picks aren't walking through that door. They are in win-now mode and need to show more, quickly.
  9. 8 games at least? This isn't baseball. By week 8 your fate can be decided. This team can't afford a guy who can't make throws. Cutlers greatest apologist. Trubisky under threw an int. He tried to dart a short crossing route that was knocked up for an int. Overthrew one in an obvious completion. But I’ve read that script a 1000 times with Jay at QB. To compare him with Malhomes is stupid. 8 games feels like a good barometer for a 2nd year guy, first year into a complex offense. Look, I loved Cutler, but let Mitch grow into this. Did Jay Cutler play in this game? If not, don't you dare bring him up in this thread. Go find a Cutler thread.
  10. And 9 days ago you were his greatest defender. Give it half a season Christ He's looked like ass the last two weeks. I don't know what "give it" means. Am I not supposed to say he looked like ass? Am I supposed to text Nagy and tell him nevermind about the advice from me he was about to listen to? We're grading him on the Tebow scale and he is still getting Cs and Bs right now.
  11. His reads aren't great, but he had a lot of problems with his throws tonight too. The time for being graded on a curve runs out eventually.
  12. They were babying him *hard* in the second half. No difficult throws, everything underneath and easy.
  13. That sure looks like a safety to me.
  14. One more what? Trubisky's probably done throwing tonight. One more TD pass. And you're right. He probably won't get another chance. But what he's shown tonight so far has been ledge-worthy.
  15. Gimme one more and I'll back off the ledge.
  16. I mean, it's working, but this is the John Shoop offense.
  17. Still only up by 7 on this dogpoop Seattle team. This team has 6-10 with lots of moral victories written all over it.
  18. So what the Bears need to do is something similar to what they did last week, against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. As frustrating as it is when turtling doesn't work, it's still the right play in the NFL and especially with this team right now. You can't trust Trubisky to be out there slinging it around, even though last week they only got 6 points off it, and it cost them the game. The defense last week had a few key botched plays that made it look worse than it was, and that's not likely to continue this week. Unlike last week against Aaron Rodgers.
  19. We spent a *ton* of capital in the offseason revamping the offense to give a chance to our No. 2 overall pick QB. It's been six quarters and the only TD pass he's thrown was a pitch play that happened to go a little forward. There's a lot of good reason to be nervous.
  20. You can tell people are getting nervous when they start getting pissy about potentially negative posts.
  21. It's not time to go to Daniel, but it's time to start talking about when it would be time to go to Daniel.
