  1. It's basically the same as being up 2-1 in a best of 5 or 3-2 in a best of 7.
  2. Yep. It is a regular season game. Javy going 6-6 with 4 HR and taking home the MVP I remember hoping just *maybe* Sosa could get the last four he needed to tie McGwire.
  3. Obviously the winner of this game gets the MVP between Baez and Yelich
  4. But they didn't make one game up so they still only played 162. Finished 103-58 Can you imagine that team mumbling about the Brewers just being too hot to handle and not enough off days?
  5. I think the trick is to lose to the Brewers tomorrow so they have to sit for a couple days and cool off while we finish off the West loser and then go roaring through them.
  6. I play in the lowest level rec hockey league for newbs and fat old people who don't want to move up to the second-lowest level. Last night was our season opener and this game-winner by a teammate with a minute left looked a little familiar: https://i.imgur.com/AUzcGVS.mp4
  7. Not even just in a theoretical "this is a slight edge for the Cubs' probabilities" way. Tiebreakers are cool. Unprecedented circumstances in baseball are cool. A double tiebreaker day where the losers get shunted to another one-game play-in is pretty awesome.
  8. Forget about the quality of the throws. What I couldn't get over was how quickly Trubisky was making the reads all day. It was a complete 180 from previous games. He looked like he had no problem identifying the coverage and looking through his progressions all over the field and finding the right guy at the right moment in their routes. None of that "Oh, he's open but I wasn't looking, and I looked there a half second later but the defense had closed by then" garbage. That's why the fourth TD was my favorite. Watch the replays and look at how his head swivels around through a bunch of reads in a second before he recognizes that the defense had overcommitted to the flat and there must be a receiver open on his left, who he hits immediately.
  9. The NL turning into some stupid double-elimination bracket like a HS tournament would be funny.
  10. That's enough sports for me today. I'll trust my phone to update me if he gets the 7th.
  11. Just lose the WC game so we can have more time to focus on the Bears' impending championship run.
  12. lol this team is gonna lose the division to the Milwaukee Brewers.
  13. lol this team is gonna lose the division to the Milwaukee Brewers.
  14. What was crazy impressive to me in that half was the decisive reads Trubisky was making. Looked completely different from the first three weeks. Yeah, he had a lot of open receivers, but he was finding the open man even when it wasn't his first or second read and he was finding them *on time*. I think it was the third TD where the receiver looked like his third option and he considered two options on opposite sides of the field before going to him, and he still had the ball out quickly.
  15. Perfect 158.3 (what a stupid stat) QB rating for the first half.
  16. If Howard is hurt, it happened before the game. He was getting weirdly low reps from the beginning.
  17. One of the first things that jumped out at me watching Khalil mack highlight videos right after we traded for him was how non-violent his sacks usually were. For as much havoc as he causes, he almost always drags them down with arm tackles, even to the point where he moves his body so he hits the ground first and just pulls them down. It was refreshing (not in a "hey he won't get penalties" way, but in a "i don't feel dirty watching that" sort of way). I am totally fine if football moves that direction. That's where it needs to go, and I think it will get there, it's just gonna take years. Players and fans are still too inculturated to think about "hits" rather than tackles. But it's slowly turning.
  18. Still time for one more to tie the first-half record.
  19. OK so we're probably not going to Chase Daniel.
  20. When is the last time a Bears QB had 4 TD passes in one half?
  21. That was the best drive of Trubisky's career. The first big throw was a *tiny* bit underthrown but acceptable. The big pass to Cohen was perfect. The TD wasn't a difficult pass, but it was well-read and he got the ball out quickly, which he hasn't always done in those situations.
  22. We have always believed in Mitchell Trubisky
