  1. I feel like a top-5 linebacker should make big plays more often.
  2. No one loves a good doom boner more than me, but writing off fields next three seasons is a bit much even for me
  3. This is the first thing I've liked from Poles since early in the offseason. There's no way to tell if this is a real blow-up or a negotiating tactic until something real comes out of it.
  4. Good. Never extend anyone but quarterbacks and offensive linemen
  5. I'm ok with not extending Roquan, in accordance to my long-standing belief that athletes shrivel up and die after age 26.
  6. idc about today but remember the day the Cubs traded for nomar? That was fun.
  7. How is it not today? Thanks Biden
  8. Dude pitched against sec competition so we already know he can handle AA
  9. Having to take a 13th for your 3OA a few years later hurts.
  10. 7th overall, 39th overall and a future 3rd Meh
  11. I think this is an unneccsarily complex way to say that if your bad, being worse than bad is whatever. Kinda. It's more saying you aren't worse. Pro athletes are the tip of the bell curve, but it starts to widen out as you move down. There's a big difference between the 1st and 5th best tackle you can get, but there's probably no real difference between the 6th and 10th.
  12. There's a certain truth to the fact that when most of the unit is replacement-level, depth is irrelevant. You're already bringing in dregs off the street to fill jobs, who cares if they get hurt and you have to turn to a different dreg off the street.
  13. honestly i have no idea if this is true or not, i haven't paid attention in several years now
  14. I'm not a fan of "If this were me, this is how I would have behaved..." takes from men who, by virtue of being men, have fundamentally different life experiences and of course would behave differently.
  15. Yes, this is an extremely naive take. Rape is not about sex. Rape is about demonstrating power, a trait we encourage and prize in football players. Which is probably why football players being rapist is fairly common: https://www.nfl.com/news/kellen-winslow-ii-former-nfl-player-sentenced-to-14-years-in-prison-for-multiple https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/aug/18/former-nfl-star-darren-sharper-drugs-rape-jail-time
  16. I would literally rather fold the franchise than sit through another run of "ok we snuck in at 10-6 thanks to our defense, oops we got rocked in the playoffs by a team with an elite QB" seasons I don't think that's what he's suggesting. Maybe for this year due to the lack of offensive options, but if the defense can lead them to 10-7 on the back of an easy schedule and an opportunistic defense while Fields shows that he's the guy then this season is a rousing success, especially when you consider how much cap space the Bears would have following the season to go absolutely nuts. That said, I think 10-7 is like a 98th percentile outcome. Almost certainly 7-10 at best, more likely 5-12 or 6-11. I can't wait to spend that cap space on a linebacker, a corner, an offensive lineman with lots of grit who is a little weak in pass-blocking and a special teams specalist. (don't try to reason with me I'm doom bonering)
  17. I would literally rather fold the franchise than sit through another run of "ok we snuck in at 10-6 thanks to our defense, oops we got rocked in the playoffs by a team with an elite QB" seasons
  18. I'm fine with not filling all the holes in one off-season. The fact that most of the holes that did get filled were focused on defense is concerning to me. But maybe it will be fine.
  19. Would t Poles want to fix the O-Line for his new QB? How does this draft help ? We took a lot of late round project ol who might contribute ona few years
  20. I'm probably just hot taking, but I can't shake the thought that this is *exactly* what I would expect the off-season to look like if Poles just didn't like Fields and wanted to start fresh with his own QB pick in 2023
  21. Third-round pick is a 25-year-old return specialist graded by most as a 6th-rounder. I love-hate it so much. Doom Boner emerging.
  22. No but Bears fans demanded a rebuild and a stark change from Pace without realizing what that might mean. Overinvesting in defense while ignoring the offensive line isn't a "stark change." It's the exact same thing.
  23. Beginning to wonder about that as well, I can understand the pick at 39 but, not going offense with the latest pick is pretty disappointing. This defense, defense, defense nonsense is really tiresome. Im fine with the picks so far. It's likely been their two BPAs at two positions of need and likely game 1 starters. Counterpoint: Defense is stupid and we shouldn't try to be good at it
  24. Did Fields insult Poles' mother?
