I'd prefer half-strength swings. C'mon you know theres a difference between a fast uppercut swing and a regular swing. I really don't think most major-league hitters have different swings. It's hard enough to hit a freaking baseball without trying out a bunch of different swings. Maybe an outside pitch swing and an inside pitch swing, but that's about it.
Cedeno was just being fair. He felt bad that his weak grounder to SS didn't turn into a DP the first time around, and he really wanted to be that second out.
