  1. Piniella just can't resist changing pitchers 18 times a game.
  2. It was a pitch just a smidge off the corner and knee-high. Technically, it was outside the rule-book strikezone. But it was really close, and that pitch is called more often than not.
  3. Wuertz time. I'm always in favor of letting the pitcher hit when you're going to pull him anyway. I think we're a little short on the bench with Fukudome unavailable and 13 pitchers.
  4. Greene pulls a Theriot and reaches first base. copycat.
  5. PLEASE throw strikes Wuertz, or Piniella will forget that you are a decent reliever.
  6. Apparently there's a little pad right behind the fence to protect the bullpen and keep the batters' eye clear of players in the pen. The ball hit that, but it just looks like an extension of the fence. Stupid thing to have.
  7. Brenly describing the replay. "That hit...I don't know what it hit." Me neither. Teams need to be barred from having all that crud right behind the fence.
  8. Johnson steals second, goes to third when the throw gets away. Barrett was touched by the bat during the throw and is arguing for interference. The bat definitely touched him, but not enough to interfere with the throw. I don't know if the rules say you have to call that or not. DeRosa off the top of the wall....calling it a homer.
  9. Cubs record in Marquis' games: 2007: 20-14 2008: 5-5 (not including tonight) Total: 25-19 Just sayin' :) He's still bad.
  10. Soto just needed to line up the wall the last two times.
  11. Marquis has some serious foul-ball mojo going today.
  12. Marquis four outs from a quality start. I probably just jinxed it...
  13. A single was probably the best we could hope for from that at-bat.
  14. Borderline. Could have been called either way. At the very least, evened out the one Theriot got that I thought might have been strike three.
  15. DeRosa walks, Johnson steals third. We are all about the stealing tonight.
  16. Leadoff double. I love Reed Johnson vs. lefties.
  17. Hard-hit grounder right at Theriot, after a liner down the right field line went just foul.
  18. When you're looking for them, you tend to see them. A lot of them. That's how cognitive dissonance works.
  19. Gave that run right back. Apparently, we were mistaken assuming we had to swing at pitches outside the strike zone with 3 balls. We should really do last inning over with this new knowledge.
  20. Piniella angry. Not with himself for insisting this guy has a rotation spot, unfortunately.
  21. Soto's ball was 390 feet to dead center. The ball doesn't carry great in this park, but there's a lot of parks that's not out in.
  22. I'm watching him right now. They all look the same to me. It never ceases to amaze me how little some peopl actually see when watching a game. Nor does it amaze me how much people see beyond what is actually happening.
