  1. We have 21 balls in play and three hits tonight, by my quick math. Maddux or not, that's lucky.
  2. If you time the fastball and swing through the zone, sometimes the ball hits the bat. That is the Padres' hope here.
  3. Can't believe that he was able to go to third on that.
  4. At some point, the BABIP gods have to smile on us and these ground balls should find a hole or something.
  5. Popped straight up. Maddux has the BABIP mojo, Lilly has the stranded baserunners mojo. So far...
  6. Wouldn't be a Cubs game without a leadoff walk late.
  7. He hit two yesterday. One if you don't consider really deep fly balls to be line drives.
  8. Edmonds with an unneccessary leap. Petco saves the day.
  9. Given our middle infield arms, I don't think we turn that. Good call, Ramirez.
  10. I withdraw my first-inning remarks about Ted Lilly.
  11. It's basically rebranded Hardees. So yes. Not "basically." It is Hardees. Exactly the same. There's a Hardees in my town. It's the most disgusting food I've ever put in my mouth. I haven't eaten there in years, and the only reason I used to eat there sometimes was because it was across the street from my old job and I'd run over there on my lunch hour. Actually, Hardee's is a rebranded Carl's Jr. :)
  12. Like our best CFer, two of our best starting pitchers and one of our better relievers.
  13. Carpenter is coming back from TJ, right? Pitchers who come back from TJ are rarely more than average their first year back. They only get back to old form in the second season.
  14. This probably favors Maddux. I really don't want to face him in a park like this. We can't hit HRs off him easily, and he won't walk us. Let's hope for some BABIP magic.
  15. Cardinals. Sorry, but a lot of my best friends and family are Cardinal fans, so if I can't be happy I don't mind if they are. Obviously, I'd prefer to be happy for my own team. The Red Sox right now just because I like really good teams.
  16. Take out those games, and the opponents' games against the Cubs or Brewers, and I suspect SOS is pretty close.
  17. For real spoilers. I swear. Don't read if you don't wanna know :)
