  1. I want you to prove that rotation is mediocre. You've said it repeatedly, you are wrong, and I'd like for you to produce some sort of evidence that Zambrano, Harden, Lilly, Marquis, Marshall is a mediocre rotation.
  2. ZOMG, numbers, evidence... I don't believe it! Anyways, Lowe was a better pitcher three straight seasons. That's a good place to start.
  3. So no comment on the 2008 Phillies, no interest in comparing the rotations, no interest in providing the slightest shred of evidence whatsoever? Got it.
  4. Actually, yes, that's a rotation more than good enough to win a championship. LOL then I suppose you've got no issues with the Cubs' lineup bullpen or bench either, since sketchy/mediocre is "more than good enough to win a championship". You'd suppose wrong. Why not focus on the subject at hand instead of trying to deflect it. Would you care to prove that those guys are sketchy/mediocre as a group? You can't just say "HOW COULD YOU DO X, Y IS WHAT YOU NEED TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP?" and then act like anyone who disagrees with you doesn't want to win a championship. That rotation gives you two dominant starters, and at worst one good and two average ones. If that's not good enough to win a championship, Philadelphia and St. Louis better be giving back those rings they won in the last three years. Seriously, stack those five up against the 2008 and 2006 World Champions, and show me how they don't measure up?
  5. Actually, yes, that's a rotation more than good enough to win a championship.
  6. We won one in the early 90s. Remember, we had that young pitcher who could throw really hard because he broke his arm or something? Visual proof: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_935wAgojuqw/SbqddXz4YPI/AAAAAAAAAt0/zPnePErRsAs/s400/Picture+18.png
  7. Sounds like that team actually won something though. So no, it's not worse. Winning the NL Central is a lot harder than winning the North Dakota state title in anything.
  8. Karl Malone
  9. Could be worse, I guess. The defending state champion baseball team up here (although winning a state championship isn't that hard in North Dakota) is Williston, and they just had an epic meltdown in the first round (quarterfinals) of the state tournament. 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the 7th. Inning goes: K, 4-3, BB, BB, BB, E4 (grounder to second, throw hits runner and gets away, three runs score and batter goes to second), walk-off 1b to right. (I'm covering the game by radio and calling the coach because of budget cuts. I hate budget cuts).
  10. http://www.fangraphs.com/lgraphs/290528116_Dodgers_Cubs_129162840_lbig.png Like Jon when Kate gets home.
  11. IIRC, down 1, bottom 9, 1st and 2nd, no out, is one of the few situations where your run expectancy and win expectancy go up with a successful sac bunt.
  12. This is actually a situation (ignoring who is batting) where the sac bunt is a positive play.
  13. Soriano with RISP: 0.093 BB per PA Soriano elsewhere: 0.091 BB per PA
  14. There's never been a shred of evidence than Hendry didn't want Neifi, Bynum, Macias, etc.
  15. Until the umpire goes into the dugout to start yelling at a player, I'm not going to blame them for contact.
  16. It amazes me that people think the argument that Hendry completely abdicates his job to a subordinate is a legitimate defense.
  17. "Pulling a Cubs"? Cubs fans didn't invent it. If anything, I think it goes back to the Reds.
  18. By the time Seabrook and Keith get their long-term deals, the Blackhawks will have all the money you could possibly stand tied up in defensemen. The top 5 is set in stone for at least a couple more years, I think, with the way Hjarlmarsson proved himself. They need a really good two-way center.
  19. Well, to be fair, it did help set up the Peavy trade.
  20. Detroit usually pulls better ratings in-town, but yeah, I think he'd rather see Chicago.
  21. Absolutely. It would have taken a miracle run to get any further than this. Would have been nice to play Anaheim. I hate the "we'll be back" mentality, as if it's just so easy, but there's no reason this team shouldn't get at least his far again, a lot. It'd be nice to shore up the defense for next season, but the top five are pretty much set. You just have to hope Barker keeps developing (it'd be nice if Seabrook and Keith did too, but they are already so good it's hard to ask for more). My big offseason wish would be a true two-way No. 2 center. Pahlsson was a nice defensive center, but I'd like to get a guy who can do that and score.
  22. If you do that, no chance of Havlat, and you probably lose Keith or Barker in a few years.
