  1. Yeah, this is my first time seeing him, and I can't say that I like him much so far.
  2. You have to be kidding me.
  3. Top 100 is an awfully high standard. This isn't a 30-team baseball league. This is a sport almost every country in the world plays. Top 100 would mean breaking the starting lineup in one of the top 9 club teams in the world (not exactly, but give or take), and I don't think we've got any guys outside of Howard who could be considered a real threat to do that anytime soon. The USMNT has gotten by in past years a lot on stamina and speed across the entire starting 11. Someone who knows the team better than I do feel free to correct that if I'm wildly off.
  4. I couldn't quite put into words what I was feeling. But I think you nailed it.
  5. I liked what I saw from Torres. But I'll admit to only half paying attention in the second half.
  6. So people who know soccer better than me: Is this a sign that this team is in trouble, or just a single awful game?
  7. I'm not even sure how to evaluate anyone in front of the back line in this game. The start just put everyone behind the eight-ball and made it impossible to play a normal game.
  8. We can call a do-over right? Have we used our do-over yet?

  10. In fairness, everything is a small market relative to New York.
  11. Eager scored 11 goals. One of the Hawks' strength was that their fourth-line, elbow-throwing guys could also do a little scoring.
  12. Corey's never going to be a good OBP player. His value is from providing a power bat with good defense at a premium position. 320/450 is what you hope for if you take a shot on Patterson. .338 in AAA doesn't project to .320, though. He's never been able to consistently get his OBP up to the bare respectability that would let his defensive and power add value, and I don't think .338 in AAA is projecting to him doing it.
  13. Still not loving the 5.00 projection for the fill-ins, and I think PECOTA is way too bearish on Zambrano and Marquis. But even then, a 4.45 above the league average for starters two of the last three seasons. You can't compare starters' ERA to league ERA, as relievers tend to have better ERAs.
  14. Ha,ha, very funny. Now some of us are at work, give the real pbp plz :)
  15. My bad. I honestly haven't watched more than a couple games this year.
  16. It's not late in a close game, we should score here.
  17. Koivu would be a killer pickup. Exactly what we need.
  18. This is a really big moment-of-truth offseason for the Hawks. The more I look at the roster, the less convinced I am that they are that close to making the next step. And beginning this year, they can't afford to make *any* cap-room mistakes, not with Campbell already under contract for that ridiculous deal.
  19. .338 OBP at AAA doesn't really translate well to the majors.
  20. He better be dominate and with a very cap friendly contract. Also depth on defense doesnt look so deep when you would have Campbell or Barker on the top pairing. Honestly I cannot think of a situation where this is a good move for the Hawks. I just don't see Bolland or Pahlsson as the No. 2 center on a legit threat to win the Cup, and I like Barker as a No. 2 defenseman with another year under his belt.
  21. Question: Given the depth the Hawks have defensively, would you give up Duncan Keith for a legit top-line center, giving us a dominant No. 2 to go with Toews?
  22. Puts me ahead of you, anyway. I'm not the one making a positive assertion. I was simply denying yours. Burden of proof is on you. You used career numbers for Lilly and Harden, both of whom spent significant time in the AL, then compared the average to the NL teams. That alone cost the theoretical rotation a couple of spots.
  23. Well, at least you tried. You failed, but you tried. There's not really a good reason to use career ERAs, and you can't just throw the 5.00 in there for the fill-ins. And I'm trying to figure out why you penciled Ted Lilly in for 28 starts (30+ five of the last six seasons). But doctored numbers are better than no attempt at numbers at all. Step in a positive direction, here.
