  1. wagner walks in run in 10th, 4-3 dodgers. bottom of 10th has burrell with leadoff triple off brazoban. 4-3 cards at busch in the 7th.
  2. bay up with 2 on 2 out gainst the stros....
  3. is that you making a pathetic half-jump at the ball? i wouldnt advertise that.
  4. who becomes our 5th starter then? serge?
  5. went to the game last nite (monday). Weeks absolutely destroyed a ball from eldred in the ninth. wow. meaningless run, though. :x
  6. i'm guessing we lower this guys BB/IP tonite. even if we beat this loser we still suck.
  7. Link to more of Frese's stats at WT and Iowa wth was he doing farming?
  8. cpatt, where did you get the farns quote? thats awesome. oh, BTW, welcome to MO. i hear wentzville will become the new ofallon.
  9. That's something I've been working on. Will have something up in a day or two. its like 'give fred an assignment day'! hopefully that stuff doesnt take alot of work.
  10. fred, have you posted stats on game after the cubs score 10 runs? it seems like the bats go silent after big games like yesterday. if you've done it already, i missed it.
  11. edmonds gets thrown out at home after he forgets how many outs there were. :)
  12. Huh? We just swept the Marlins, yet they're better than us? And Vance, I agree with you. A sweep of the Stros is the best thing for the Cubs. But I wont root for the Cardinals to win. I just can't do it. the negativity thing has been working for us lately. just trying to keep it going.
  13. they're all better than the cubs.
  14. .500 whooppeee. great. go be average on nat TV.
  15. What number are you thinking, Craig? $4 base. $1 for all-star, $2 for top-5 MVP. $1 each at the 250, 350, 450, and 550 PA thresholds. Cub risk: $4 out the window. Nomar risk: Short of award-level play, max contract is "only" $8 even if he's healthy enough for 550 PA. Something like that. Nomar gets an opportunity and some money for sure. If Nomar is healthy enough to play a lot, I think $8 contract is perhaps pretty reasonable. I'm not that keen on going much beyond that, short of awards-based incentives. Even if he's healthy enough to play, I'm not sure that Nomar is really going to be able to play defense or hit at beyond the place where $8-9 would be reasonable pay. I can't guess what the market for him would be like. I'd be willing to give larger incentives for awards-based stuff. unless i'm adding wrong, that could end up being $11-12. if healthy, he's got a great shot at being an all-star on name alone. i think neifi has quite a bit of value as a utility man, but that means we must have healthy starters everywhere to prevent dusty starting him. it'll be interesting to see who is playing CF and 2B next year, along with SS.
  16. nomar had an abdominal injury, too, if i remember correctly. you think that would limit the upper body rehab and put him on a different time table than piazza, but like you say everyone is different. cant perez play 3rd, effectively making macias even more waste of the roster space than he already is? i would say to move macias or a pitcher down when nomar is back, but cedeno will get even less PT with a 3rd SS on the team, so moving him down might be a good idea.
  17. they also put carpenter on the field with the AL team in their little pregame graphics. pay a 12 year old to do 5 seconds of proofreading and they might make a few less mistakes.
  18. is prior blancowned for good? i thought barrett has caught him this year. i dont know another reason for keeping mike's bat out of the lineup. good to see murton getting some attention, but i fear he is just a single 0-4 from rusting on the bench ala dubois. no matter how many walks or pitches he sees. i hope miles is right on the pressure from above dusty is feeling to start the youngsters.
  19. i dont think he can just jump in at #3. an ease-in period of a few games might be a good idea. although, he is a veteran, so he should get the respect of picking his own spot. but, eventually, that looks like a good lineup.
  20. i've always wondered what percentage of the budget is spent on the minor leagues: signing bonuses, salaries, travel, scouting, etc. i know those games charge admission, but theres no way they are in the black.
  21. plus, i think we had to buy out part of alou's contract, if that counts. i'm thinking it was like 2 million.
  22. That always makes me cry. i cant believe that didnt break some sort of rule. even in texas. i'm about the same age, and i remember pitching limits of some kind here in illinois. i cant remember if it was IHSA or summer league, though.
  23. could the youngsters get some AB's if this becomes a blow-out? geez i hope so dusty.
