  1. the beauty is it wouldnt matter too much. maybe tejadas speed would be better in front of aramis than the other way around. if lee hits and gets on base like last year, best to keep him at #3. their probably isnt a wrong way to do it.
  2. i'm too lazy to figure this out, so i'll just take the dominican world cup/bowl/series team
  3. gene keady is in talks with the raptors. does he need money that badly? http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/TPStory/LAC/20051207/RAPTORS07/TPSports/Basketball
  4. this thread is going to be a real pick-me-up
  5. what does this mean, exactly? what would dusty have to do to get him back on the field.
  6. With what's happened to the Cardinals, and the Astros still making no significant offensive upgrades as of yet, I think we'd have a better than expected chance of contending with a Murton/Pierre/Floyd outfield. It's not a stretch to think that one of Murton or Cedeno will end up being a very good player for us in 06, so I'd like that team. has anything happened?
  7. im just curious how everyone would grade the offseason if they get floyd, and stop there. that and a healthy pitching staff should be enough to contend.
  8. and even that would imply a raise from last year, which i cant see. offer 6 million, which is just 1 a month, and see what happens. not overspending on neifi would have given us some flexibility here.
  9. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm Cool...didn't know about that. Thx for the link. They also have one for quicktime. for the life of me i cant get quicktime off my new computer. i'm not that good with pcs, tho.
  10. ok but this is the last we'll talk about it forever. for double dog ever. deal, ok good.
  11. 1. I'll be VERY surprised if the Cards add another year. This is the first time they have offered a four year contract to a pitcher. Apparently it was a stretch for them to do so. So to add a 5th is asking too much. 2. Why is it too late? The Dodgers entered the Furcal race at the last second and landed him. He's not signed yet, so I wouldn't say it's too late. I also suspect that Hendry has been in touch with Burnett's agent a few times this offseason already. Also, with all the mediocre pitchers (aka Clement) getting 9 mil, 10 mil on Burnett could end up being a very good contract. Rumors have him making his decision tomorrow, if the timeframe of the Cubs entering the sweepstakes was less than 24 hours ago, I can't see them having a serious say in the matter. to me, it seems like money talks. there is no real deadline for burnett to make his decision as far as we know. even if his agent is getting ready to call the cards and say yes, if jim calls with a comparable/better offer he's going to give aj the chance to consider it. we might as well make aj the best offer we can, maybe he'd like to work alongside maddux, prior, and zambrano for a year.
  12. seconded. i'm ready to buy some stuff for people, and figure i might as well use these sites.
  13. i'm afraid your right. has anyone been talking to nomar? i havent heard anything.
  14. doesnt "contract year" imply he's expecting to play in 2007? how many 41 yo outfielders are out there? no thanks
  15. i see the RBI and HR totals as more attainable than the BA and OBP. i would just like to see a full healthy year. if he has that, great numbers will follow.
  16. Let's tone down the language, please. This is a family site, and swearing is generally not accepted. Thanks! is that a swear word? or already edited
  17. maybe they can keep them out late before day games, talk them into using banned substances, etc. i dont think that should be discouraged.
  18. will all of the improvements be ready for this summer? picturs plz. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20051116&content_id=1268924&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Try this. Some of the pictures kind of startled me seeing all that stuff torn down to the brick wall in the outfield and the loss of the bushes in center. Don't know if that is permanent. well, that about answers it. thanks for the link. looks like big changes.
  19. will all of the improvements be ready for this summer? picturs plz.
  20. so we've got $18-20 or so to get an outfielder and 2 bench spots. i like mabry at 1-1.5 on the bench, which leaves plenty to get giles, but likely not enough to get furcal and giles. edit: i was going with the total now at 85. if its 79, that gives us a little more wiggle room, but still tough for furcal and a big bat in RF.
  21. hopefully with that deal its a low-level prospect. if walker and castillo have similar value, which someone has said here, your'e really trading patterson and cedeno for pierre. which is still overpaying, imo.
