  1. Bonds may not only pass Ruth this game...he could pass Aaron. It could be that bad of a game.
  2. He's like the Anti-Bonds. Thanks vance_the_cubs. That is such a nice compliment. I couldn't agree more! :D I'm heading back over there tonight. Do you need me to give him a message? :D But seriously, he was very nice and friendly. My wife even commented such. Best of luck to him!
  3. The Mets could win the World Series and the Braves could finish in dead last and it still wouldn't make Minyana a better GM than Schuerholz. This will be a down year for the Braves, but that does not in any way diminish what Schuerholz brings to the table. He's better than Minyana and there shouldn't be any doubt about that. Minyana can call when he gets half the division titles of Schuerholz.
  4. In the right deal, no one in our system is untouchable. I'd be very hesitant to move Pie. We have a great deal of depth in the pitching area so I'm less worried about moving pitching for the right player. That being said, I'd also be hesitant to make a deal with our young players unless it really appeared this team has a chance. As of right now, I don't believe that we do. In that case, I'd be more apt to move veteran players to acquire young talent and then in the offseason decide which of the young talent to keep and which to spin in deals to build for next season. Unless I'm getting a difference maker that will be signed beyond next season, I do not deal any young players like Guzman or Pie right now. If I could get Cabrera or some one of his ilk, then I would.
  5. We'd be better off with Patterson hitting lead-off.
  6. Dope is back! I didn't see him with the team when I was there Sunday... :-s I'll look for him tonight when I go back.
  7. I'm heading back to Jackson tonight to catch the Jaxx-Braves game. It should be fun.
  8. Wow...Pierre's avg is down to .238. We'd have been better off keeping Nolasco, Mitre, and Pinto and letting Patterson keep leading off.
  9. Bob just said Tony Gwynn has his plate full....just looking at him, I bet he has a lot of full plates, then empty ones, then full ones, then empty ones...repeat
  10. agreed.. but if hendry did say this does this set a tone that this is how the cubs organization is. then why would anybody want to come play for them? i hope that aint the truth cause it just makes a cub fan more frustrated! No, I don't think whether or not he said this sets any kind of tone. The context of that statement means everything. What if Clanton was demanding to have something done and whining and moaning while Hendry tried to lay out the plan for him. What if he refused to listen and in a moment of exasperation Hendry uttered those words which could completely justified.
  11. Would someone really claim Bynum just to give him a spot on the major league roster? I don't think so.
  12. http://www.progressiveboink.com/dugout/scotteyre.jpgTheEyreUpThere: Thanks a lot, Glendon, now we've got breast cancer on second base.
  13. I'd send Bynum down. He's superfluous on the roster, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Restovich that is the one sent down. Or maybe, we're shrinking the bullpen back to 6 pitchers again and we're sending Novoa back.
  14. I don't hate Baker. He's an extremely nice an personable guy. He exudes charisma. I was also a fan of his hiring. On the other hand, his moves and line-ups have be befuddled at times. I think he had the talent in 2004 and yet allowed that team to implode.
  15. A few commments: 1. The kid seems to be troubled. His erratic behavior definitely hurts his credibility. 2. Even if Hendry said that exact quote to him, we don't know what it was in response to. Clanton sounds like a real piece of work. If he were going off on Hendry, I can definitely see Hendry responding like that. 3. Most of Clanton's side of the story reads like sour grapes from someone who would never take responsibility for his own problems.
  16. How about Bob Brenly? I think both Johnson and Dierker would be better choices than Brenly. If we move Bob down, who replaces him in the booth?
  17. Fire Baker. Convince Davey Johnson or Larry Dierker to take the job.
  18. You really have your priorities out of whack! Well, I've been really tempted to cancel the doctor's appointment, but I've had off and on headaches for three weeks now, so I think it's time to visit the doctor. I had a blast at the game last night and Marmol did sign two pictures before the game for me. And I must say, if there's a nicer guy that Micah Hoffpauir, I've never met him.
  19. I agree that this year's mess is not Dusty's fault. Hendry put together a flawed team. On the other hand, 2004 was Dusty's fault. That team had plenty of talent to get the job done and Dusty let the "us vs the world" metanlity implode on that team.
  20. I really wanted to go see Marmol pitch today, but I have a doctor's appointment.
  21. This is where we are right now. For the record, I've been averaging about 500 votes a day. My grand total right now is 5,875 for the ten days voting has been happening. But I didn't vote at all yesterday and I'll have to work to squeeze my 100 votes a day in this week. It's getting hectic as we approach the end of the school year. Just a reminder to everyone to keep voting what they have pledged. Also, we could use some more pledges. 900 votes a day is great...but it would be nice if we could get this number over 1000.
