  1. Are you suggesting Frank couldn't life Alex Gonzalez?
  2. The Sox are irrelevant to me.
  3. I like Theriot, but there are too many better options at second who will be available on the FA market. Let Theriot be the middle infielder on the bench next season. He'd be a valuable player in that role.
  4. But there's no mention of Blanco missing the sign on the squeeze? Or does Dusty blame Murton for that one?
  5. Len, Have you read Larry Dierker's book, This Ain't Brain Surgery? If so, what is your opinion on his thoughts about the game? Would you think he'd make a good candidate as a manager?
  6. I read the White Sox are also interested in Blanco. I say that they should get to sign both Pierre and Blanco in a package deal.
  7. I've grown weary of Baker. I wish he'd just shut-up. He can't be gone soon enough.
  8. While I like Ryne as a player, and agree with him that there's a right way to play the game, I've read enough of his antiquidated ideas in his yahoo articles to know I don't want him making decisions for the Cubs. I think that I would grow to loathe Sandberg as manager of the Cubs. Since he was always my favorite player, I'd rather that not happen.
  9. If we can get Wood for 1.5 million or less, then I'm all for it. Right now, we have over 10 million already tied up in the bullpen. We can't afford to pay Kerry 3-4 million and still address the more pressing issues.
  10. How much do you think getting those guys would cost? Considering Soto would be 330K, Moore is 330 K, and Theriot 330K. That's 1 million. I figure 2.5 million for DeRosa, 4 million for Wilson, and 3.5 million for Lofton. It's an expensive bench, but I'm projecting Wilson to platoon with Jones in RF, so that's really 9 million for RF. Lofton likely logs significant innings in CF. DeRosa is paid what we paid Neifi last year.
  11. Thanks Len! It's always a pleasure to have you around. A few questions. First, what priorities do you think the Cubs should have in making the team a winner during the offseason? Are there any free agents you would like to see the Cubs target this winter? Secondly, what do you do during the offseason? Third, what do you think is the best new TV series of the fall? Thanks!
  12. I'd like to see this bench: Geovany Soto C Mark DeRosa 3b/2b/ss/lf/rf Ryan Theriot ss/2b Craig Wilson 1b/of Kenny Lofton of Scott Moore 3b
  13. I can't watch tonight. It's the wife's b-day.
  14. They had the coin flip, the game would be in Houston. I might have to try to score a ticket for that game if it were to happen. I hate the Astros, but I'd want to see the Cardinals' demise in person.
  15. I agree. If I could have Pierre for 3 million a season, he might be an "ok" option. I would hope we could do better, but at that price, he'd be useful. We would still need major upgrades at other positions, but we'd have less dollars tied up in an average player with a limited skill set.
  16. That is one of the few times I've actually liked a Phil Rogers article. See, Phil. It isn't hard to write a good article if you put yur mind to it.
  17. Glendon, while I didn't like to watch him pitch, was one of the good guys. Here's hoping he finds a good life after baseball.
  18. I'd rather make a Cubs' Heavy Metal song. Mine consists of banging my head against a wall and screaming, "Jesus Christ! We SSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!"
  19. Imagine how the Reds must feel. If they hadn't traded a bunch of good players for horrible or injured bullpen arms, they might have won this thing.
  20. petition to ban fat jokes. Doesn't it actually have to be funny in order to be classified as a "joke"? the previous 50000 weren't funny either. :lmao:
  21. I'm sorry, I don't understand the Cindy Sandberg reference. Please explain. I wasn't living in Chicago at the time. Besides, his wife's name is Margaret. his first wife, Cindy, was widely rumored to be sleeping around. most notably with rafael palmeiro, who was subsequently traded. and Dave Marinez, and Hector Villuneuva, and.... sometimes I wonder if even Zimmer got a piece.
  22. Hill for Crawford? If they want one with top of the rotation ability, it would likely be Hill.
