  1. I don't know. You'd have to factor in larger club house spreads into the budget.
  2. I'm guardedly optimisitc right now. If in spring training, it's evident that Mark Prior is back to form, I may move to giddily optimistic.

  4. I found this little article this morning on Micah and his desire to make it to Chicago. Link.
  5. Here are the keys Lou lists as needed for a successful season:
  6. I'm surprised this is the best offer Belliard could get. He certainly should have gotten a guaranteed deal from someone.
  7. I think it's still up to Junior, but he may be moved to right.
  8. I think he was on that diet when he was a Cub. zing!
  9. I thought I'd give Fred a mulligan on that one.
  10. I think it's safe to say this little magazine likely wen belly-up.
  11. Speaking of Coomer, I saw him at the convention and he must be on the "Little Debbie Diet."
  12. Was Von Joshua moved up from West Tennessee to Iowa ? (Sorry, I don't follow the minors too closely) Yes and has been for a year!
  13. Steve Finley shouldn't be an option and personally, I don't think he is. The Cubs may have checked him out when they thought Jones wanted out and had promised Soriano a corner spot. Now that it seems both Sori and Jones are open to trying CF, I think both would have to fail at the task before Finley becomes an option. Even then, I think the Cubs would have to belive that Pie is not ready.
  14. The only way the Cubs would sign Finley would be a. Jones is traded which I don't see why that would happen now. b. Neither Soriano nor Jones are adequate in CF defensively AND Pie isn't deemed ready. So, the likelihood of Finley joining the Cubs is about nil.
  15. I think there's a greater chance that Miller would be the long man than that Hill would be it.
  16. I thought this was a nice fluff piece about Floyd coming home to the Cubs. As the article points out, coming home hasn't always been a good idea. Floyd on the other hand seems excited about it. But for those of you who grew-up with Floyd, don't plan on calling him for tickets.
  17. If this happens, I will be a bit upset. Intentionally excluding arguably the best bullpen arm we've got (Wuertz) is just stupid. I agree about Wuertz, but looking at the names we have, I can't see who will be bumped for him. The only other possibility, which I think is an extreme long shot, would be that the Cubs release Miller. His contract is low enough that they wouldn't be on the hook for too much to let him go. For the Cubs to do that, they would have to feel good about Prior's health and the abilities of Marshall or Guzman to step in if needed.
  18. good news, i hope that he returns to his 2005 form, although i'm not holding my breath. I don't think he'll hit as well as he did in 2005, but I am hoping for a solid season from him.
  19. I found this article in the NY Post online today (Link) where Joel Sherman discusses the CF situation for the NL Central and notices the lack of experience among the CF at that position. First the Cubs... Next the Astros... And the Brewers... So, while we could be worried about defense in CF, the same concerns exist for at least three of our division rivals.
  20. Joining Jones and Soriano as non-pitchers or catchers in camp is Derrek Lee. Link.
