  1. I'm looking forward to listening to Tony.

  3. I would think Theriot should have a "shot" at secondbase due to his performance last season. Personally, I think the performance was a bit fluky, but I could see Theriot given a "shot" as well.
  4. If Soriano plays CF, I don't see the need to carry a player simply to be the back-up CF. Soriano is going to play everyday. He'll likely take fewer than 6-7 games off during the entire season. So, I think Jones or Theriot would be adequate there for those few games.
  5. While secondbase is obviously DeRosa's job to lose, from this article in the Sun-Times, it appears he wasn't promised the job, just a "shot" at the job. DeRosa also seems open to moving around if needed. It also seems as if Piniella wants to see him in a variety of places in the field.
  6. I was thinking lap band surgery.
  7. Not if people actually spend the time drafting instead of cussing each other out like last year. Hey Wolf, is the guy who told me Yadier was going to hit 300 be a part of the league this year? I remember when he got pissed when I said Yadi wouldn't hit better than .250. Maybe he'll pick Yadi again...
  8. I read somewhere that he had it cut yesterday.
  9. According to Piniella, the Cubs will open the season with 12 pitchers and a full five man rotation. Link.
  10. It appears that Marshall is still rehabing his shoulder and hasn't thrown from a mound yet. Link. And then.... Marshall is likely to be one of the odd men out in the rotation, so it's not likely a big blow. I hadn't heard that he wasn't throwing until now, though.
  11. ITI did a write up of Andy Lopez. Link.
  12. Link. But most interesting was the quotes about the final spots in the rotation. Once again, it looks like Marquis is guaranteed a spot. Hill isn't. I don't like that one bit.
  13. What is this in reference to? That fact that I've met, hung out with and spent time with David Price and still talk to him every once in a while. He's a very humble human being. He doesn't even like the spotlight. Maybe you could get him to hint to the Royals and TB that he won't sign so he'll slide to the Cubs. ;)
  14. "Who's Mark Buehrle?" http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/buehrma01.shtml Apparently you missed Greg Maddux's quote from a few years ago. Link Such a great quote. Yes, it was. I can't believe a Cubs fan would miss the meaning behind that question.
  15. I am happy about Perry's addition. He was an excellent choice. Hopefully, the players listen to his tuteledge.
  16. "Who's Mark Buehrle?" http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/buehrma01.shtml Apparently you missed Greg Maddux's quote from a few years ago. Link
  17. Joe Borowski, your table is set.
  18. I was reading articles on teams around the league and ran across Richard Justice's op-ed piece on the Astros. While I know the Astros added Carlos Lee and traded for Jason Jennings, I think they took a step back this winter. If I were an Astros fan, I wouldn't be optimistic about a team that replaces Clemens and Pettitte with Jason Jennings. But, optimism abounds...Astros Look Set to Make Another Run. Here are a few snippets. He does acknowledge they have questions, but I'd dispute they are poised for a run. We think the Cubs make optimistic predictions, but look at this one... That's equivalent to my saying, "If Prior pitches like he did in 2003, Marquis pitches like he did in 2005, and Wade Miller like he did in 2001, the Cubs are going to a World Series. There's more, but I'm about to vomit. Be back in a sec.
  19. Link. From the Daily Southtown, Translated: "Last year I thought I need to play second base to make the most money. Now I can play the OF and still make 136 million. Who needs second base?"
