  1. Cubs swap Jones for Infante, pay Jones Salary - $1M, board jeers So, we trade Jones for Infante an 1 million salary relief...ok, that's dumb.
  2. I had a busy day at work...cliff notes on this thread plz.
  3. You braggin' or complainin' ?? Maybe a little of both... :-" But seriously, it's making it a tough decision.
  4. And that's loss number two for the Colts.
  5. Holy crap! Vineterri missed a FG!!!!
  6. Two point conversion not successful, and the Chargers clinging to a very slim lead now.
  7. Well, I've a big decision to make. It appears as if the wife might be inclined to let me attend. The problem is that the Cubs Convention could be happening while the Cowboys have a home playoff game. I'll have tickets for that game if it occurs, and Cowboys playoff game trumps Cubs Convention. However, if I decide to go to Cubs Convention, I'll have $$ tied up in non-refundable plane tickets and probably a hotel. So, if I make that commitment, it would be hard to back out if the Cowboys have that playoff game. Of course, if I pass up Cubs Convention and then the Cowboys don't host a playoff game then, I'm gonna be pissed... decisions...decisions....decisions...
  8. ESPN has an article on Notre Dame, Charlie Weiss, and how firing Willingham and keeping Weiss reeks of hypocrisy. Link.
  9. Colts look bad in the early goings tonight.
  10. Wow...exciting beginning to the Colts-Chargers game!
  11. How 'bout dem Cowboys!
  12. Jackson is back in, IMB. Nothing for you to worry about.
  13. I agree, but an RF upgrade is not that difficult. It's more difficult than finding someone who can get a couple of outs in the sixth or seventh inning a few times a week.
  14. I'm not convinced Pie will be an adequate CF. His ceiling is high enough, but there's a chance his performance could be Ronny Cedeno-esque circa 2006. Cedeno may or may not be an upgrade, but he also is risky. The chances that those two fail at CF/SS is far far greater than the chance that our bullpen won't be as good as it was last season. I'm for reducing the risks. If we add one impact bat at either RF/CF/SS, then we'll be far better than adding to the bullpen and expecting our line-up to be improved with Pie and Cedeno. Just thinking of both of those in the line-up with no major upgrade in RF makes me cringe.
  15. I don't think Jackson hurt anything. They were running him a good bit in the first half. He also threw a TD pass.
  16. Definitely looks like the Rams will get win #1 today.
  17. Spending money to sign or quality players to trade in order to get back bullpen pitchers is the most inefficient use of resources. The bullpen won't be a problem. Even with Marmol as closer and Howry in set-up, the back-end is likely as good as most in baseball. If Wood returns, he'll add to a dominant back-end. Any number of the guys on the farm could probably step in if necessary. I think we could much more adequately fill the bullpen internally than we could those other spots, outside of catcher. The bullpen wasn't a weakness last season and there has been almost no reason to believe that changes in 2008. CF/RF/SS were weaknesses in 2007 and I don't think what's internal is enough to make me believe those won't be problems in 2008. Bullpen is not the area that needs to be addressed.
  18. I bet that's a riveting game.
  19. I couldn't get in either. I tried with both firefox and IE.
  20. Rams looking like they might get their first win today.
  21. Geaux Tigers! And go Warhawks...plz don't lose by more than 30.
  22. I find it quite ridiculous to suggest the Cubs have a bullpen problem. The bullpen since the beginning of June was a strength. There's just not a rational argument to suggest otherwise. We could use some upgrades to the rotation, but the primary places the Cubs need to improve are at RF/CF/C/SS. Catcher should be better with Soto, so that means the Cubs need to look at the other three and maybe help for the rotation.
  23. I haven't received the ok from the wife, so it's fifty-fifty that I'll go. I went ahead and got the passes knowing I could unload them if the trip is denied. I also knew that I stood a better chance of getting the ok if I already had the passes. So, we'll see. If I can't, I'm sure I won't have any trouble unloading these. If you do go, please go to the Down on the Farm segment and take detailed notes (just like last year), plz. :D I will. Haven't had a chance to talk to the wife about it yet. I'm at an education conference in Houston and sitting drunk in the hotel lobby right now.

  25. Ok...time to shut the windows I guess. I may have a couple extras once I find out if I'm going to make it or not.
