The Cowboys would love to trade up if the Pats pick high enough for McFadden. On the other hand, that isn't likely. The Cowboys will likely look to draft an o-lineman and WR with their picks. So barring a chance for McFadden, I really don't see them trading up that high.

But we'll still have 2 first rounders with not a lot of holes and with the exception of receiver, a fairly young team. So, while I hoped the Browns would completely suck, it still looks like their pick will be in 22-24 range and last season we gave up the 22nd to make the deal, so it's ok by me.

That was a nice come from behind win by the Cowboys. Just when I think Tony Romo can't find any more magic, he does!

Gado will start at RB for the Fish as Chapman is inactive. Brock Berlin will start at QB for the Rams as Bulger is inactive. Marshawn Lynch will play against the Dolphins. McCown starts again for the Bucs. Rodgers is out for the Pack, so Craig Nall will back-up Favre.

Reggie Bush is out for Monday night's gave vs the Falcons. Marvin Harrison also won't play for the Colts this week, and it looks like Cowboys' tackle Marc Colombo is also out for today's gave vs the Lions.

An interesting aside to the Cowboys-Lions game deals with some comments Kitna made after the Lions beat the Cowboys last season. He particularly called out Terrance Newman and Brady James. Both have responded that they are willing to take some shots at Kitna. In fact, some of the remarks Newman made on Sirrus radio has drawn the attention of the NFL. Here's an article on the league's letter to Newman. It began with these comments by Kitna last year... Newman responded by saying.... So, the league sent this letter to Newman. It should be interesting, none the less. While I doubt Dallas' defensive scheme will allow Newman or James to extract revenge for those comments, Ware, Ellis, and others may have the chance. That'd be nice. Maybe we can swindle Brandon Wood away from the Angels somehow as well I think that in that deal Wood would end up with the Orioles. I've posted this twice (with some tweaking), but it's obvious the Orioles would want Pie in a deal from the Cubs. The Cubs aren't going to want to include Pie unless he's replaced. Some have heard Hendry would trade Pie if he could get a player like Figgins. The Angels would like Tejada for third base, hence a three-way deal. Here's something that I had in mind: Angels get Tejada Cubs get Roberts and Figgins Orioles get Pie, Brandon Wood, Marshall, Ervin Santana, Cedeno, and Murton. That would be a framework, but other players might need to be involved to make it work. The Orioles might want better pitchers than Marshall and Santana. The Angels may feel they are giving away too much in Figgins, Wood, and Santana. So, some changes likely would need to be made, but the principals of Tejada to the Angels, Figgins and Robers to the Cubs, and Pie and Wood as part of the package to the Orioles could remain the same. vance, Not to bubble burst, but who would play RF on that Cubs team? We'd subtract some really small salaries, but add $6.3mil for Roberts, and $4.75mil for Figgins ($11mil). We'd have $4mil left to spend on RF, plus anything else. I'm just not convinced that DeRosa would be the solution out there. And if we trade off bad SP contracts, we'll have to send a better prospect with them to get anything back let alone not send money. And we can't afford to trade away too many SP (cheap or expensive) without getting SP back. If we acquire Roberts, we have to get rid of Derosa, or be satisfied with him in RF. He's an improvement over RF based on Murton, but not by as much as the cost differential is. Roberts is $1.5mil more expensive than Derosa, worth the cost differential to me. Figgins is $4mil more expensive than Pie, and if he repeats 2007, worth it, but if not, not. And that would leave us with Theriot at SS, and no backup plan outside of Derosa (and then who in RF?). And a rotation of Z/Lilly/Hill/Marquis + Dempster/Gallagher/Hart/etc. And you'd likely have to send Prior to Anaheim for them to justify the losses. I can see the issues with the budget. I think we could probably unload Marquis somewhere, and maybe Dempster as well. I could see us willing to take trash from a team like Texas for Prior and Marquis. I'll admit I don't really have all the answers. I definitely don't think a deal would go down just as I imagined. There likely would be some other pieces involved. I don't know if the salaries would work, but in my plan I'd envision us still signing Fukudome for right, but it does look like that would put us way over budget, so I know there's some problems.
