  1. Polanco doubles and moves to third on a WP with one out.
  2. Ludwick grounds out to third, and the Cardinals are held scoreless in the third.
  3. Tigers fail to score and we head to the third, 0-0.
  4. I never expected that we'd sign him. It would be nice if we did.
  5. Cardinals load the bases in the second, but a double play gets the Tigers out of the jam.
  6. Tigers fail to capitalize on the lead-off double. 0-0 after 1.
  7. Oh well...it is now ruled a double for Granderson... :-k
  8. Ryan makes an error and Granderson goes to second with none out.
  9. Someone is trying to foil our plan of abstinence! The Brothel Bus!
  10. Juan Pierre should be on this list...
  11. Can I get Jericho Jones updates with my Michael Brenly updates, plz. :D
  12. Yep. And suspending him will keep the team from paying him, while releasing him would have the team on the hook for the remainder of his 2 million dollar contract.
  13. I'd take a flyer on Bedard, but I wouldn't give the Mariners near what they paid to get him. My guess is Bedard stays put. The only way the Mariners could turn around and trade him without losing a lot of face is to get a package that compares to the one they gave up to acquire him. I don't see that happening. Ibanez is a nice hitter, but he really needs to play LF if he's going to be in the OF. His defense is probably a bit above Ward and just a shade above Hoffpauir. I wouldn't mind Ibanez as a LH bat off the bench for the stretch run, but you don't give up good prospects for a player who you're going to use in that fashion. With Ward on the team and Hoffpauir on the farm, I'm not sure there would be much use for Ibanez. If Ichiro were made available, he would be interesting. He could play CF or RF if Fukudome were willing to go to CF. He'd be expensive to get and as long as Edmonds is hitting, I'm not sure it's a pressing need. Surely not worth what we'd have to give up to get him. Washburn has been atrocious this year, but his three previous seasons he posted ERA+ of 100, 95, 132. Not spectacular, but not bad for a back of the rotation lefty. He could get a boost by switching leagues. If the Mariners wanted to throw him away in a deal, he could be worth a look. He's probably not much better than Marquis though, but if the Cubs want a second lefty, you never know. As far as the Nationals, there's no obvious fits for us. Felipe Lopez could be a back-up middle infielder, especially if we give up on Cedeno in that role. His numbers aren't all that stellar this year, though. I heard that we could be linked to Tim Redding, but he's not the impact starting pitcher that we need. Other than those two, the Nationals have little that will interest the Cubs.
  14. Soriano is still aiming to return in time for the All-Star Game. Piniella is expecting just after the All-Star Game. Link.
  15. The best part of Tuesday night's game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnRq4sXCDfA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGmLiWDVjb4
  16. Yeah although Edmonds has played well, I think He's gonna go into a massive slump and I predict that come September, Edmonds will be gone. What does everybody else think? Does Edmonds continue to be with the team throughout the rest of the year? I think that he's played well enough that I really don't see him being cut.
  17. And with all the weeping and gnashing of teeth that went on last night, after today we've gained the game we lost back on both the Brewers and Cardinals.
  18. Ordonez ties the game with a bloop hit. I'm hoping this game goes 20 innings with the Tigers winning.
  19. Here's an article on the negotiations between Cashner and the Cubs.
