  1. You're going to have to out bid me! :P
  2. I think I'll take.... Looks good to me.
  3. I doubt Houston will be adding any big time FA's. Here's a cursory glance at their payroll for 2006. Pettitte 17 million Bagwell 17 million Biggio 4.5 million Berkman 10 million Those four players account for 48 million in payroll. Assume they keep Clemens, he'll command around 18 million again. That's 66 million for five players. Ensberg, Everett, Oswalt, and Lidge are arbitration eligible. Ensberg will likely get 5 million. Oswalt is in his sixth year, so he'll get 10 at least. Lidge will likely get 6. That's 87 million for eight players. Some of that money in Bagwell and Pettitte's deals are deferred, but we're still at 75 million for eight players. Also some of Kent's and Clemens' money has been deferred until this year, so that's added back in, putting us roughly at 80 million.Unless they significantly up payroll from the 85-88 million that it's been set at, Houston will not be too active in the FA market. My guess is that they'll stick with Everett at SS. Will Bagwell play again? If not, that frees up some money. With Biggio playing one more year, you can expect that money to be freed up the following year. I don't think Bagwell's ready to hang 'em up yet. And he's owed an 18 million option with a ten million buy-out for 2007. If he toughs out this season, he's guaranteed 27 million knowing the Astros would buy him out after this year. He'll be back.

  5. Tell him I said to hurry up!
  6. I think the Angels are hoping to whack Wang good today. (Or should that read good Wang...hmm.,...I never know.)
  7. He would because: 1) The Phils need young, affordable pitching. 2) The Phils have to move salary and Abreu could be the one. No one will want Thome's contract and Ryan Howard can't play the OF. Moving Abreu in such a deal still doesn't solve what to do with Thome and Howard. My guess is the Phillies will say Abreu is available to someone who will give players and take Thome. A team like Boston or the Orioles might bite on such a deal. If the Phillies move a big contract, and it's not Thome, I'd look for Burrell to be moved instead.
  8. I'm expecting a good game from the "fat sack of puss." Go Red Sox!
  9. I'm sure he will rise to the occasion. The Yankees can't afford for him to be soft today.
  10. All indications are that Kranitz would be promoted. I'm not sure whether that's a good idea or not. Is Verne Ruhle still available?
  11. I think there are better replacements we could target if Rothschild left.
  12. If I was the Phillies GM, I would say: Patterson- Huge Bust Williams- yet to be consistent Rusch- one good season (and not under contract) Koronka- terrible Welly- a project Mitre- Jeremi Gonzalez Jr. Nolasco - years away So why would i want to give up my all star for any of this? I agree there. Philly would counter with saying give me Williams, Pie, and Murton along with Welly or Leicester amd Mitre or Nolasco. And even then they might want more. Also, Furcal will get at least 8 million; my guess is nine million. Millwood will get at least 9 million and could reach 12 million. You're probably right on with your estimate for Eyre.
  13. forgive my ignorance thes anacronyms allude me...like a lot of thing what is BRAA and FRAA? Batting Runs Above Average and Fielding Runs Above Average
  14. We all know you're just going to to look at a Wang.
  15. I vote no on the injury pool... but if we're going to do it, I take Hendry falling down the stairs again.
  16. It's possible we could see a trade for a RF. Mench is a possibility. Kearns could be made available as could Pena. There's been the Abereu rumors, but I don't put much stock in them. So, basically, if we don't get Mench, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs trade for someone who can play rf.
  17. McKeon is remaining with the Marlins in a front office capacity.
  18. Can Mench play right? I don't know if Mench is a big enough upgrade to bench Murton over. He started 36 games in right this year. If I couldn't sign Giles, he might make a nice plan B.
  19. Can Mench play right? I don't know if Mench is a big enough upgrade to bench Murton over.
  20. So far, none of the games going the way I had hoped. I'm surely hope the Braves play well tomorrow.
  21. It wouldn't be the first time that I've had suspicions that Sullivan ripped off something from the site.
  22. I think he must IM about 50 of us. He can't troll the board so he does it via IM. And to answer the other question, yes you can ignore IM. But seeing him actually troll via IM makes me feel better as a person. I can look at my faults and then think at least I'm not an IM troll.
  23. I'm definitely serious. I don't want you to get in trouble, but if its acessible, and you'd swear to its authenticity, I'd pay you to get me one. I wouldn't sell it, so your word would be good enough for me.
