  1. In your opinion, Bruce, will Neifi start over Cedeno?
  2. Cubs, Cowboys, Mavericks, and LSU baby!
  3. I posted this in another thread and it's too painful to recount again.
  4. He's decided he likes guys who can catch the ball.
  5. Since Cedeno now rots on the bench, would Washinton give us Jose Guillen for him? Or what about a Walker, Cedeno, Nolasco for Castillo and Pierre?
  6. Excellent post. The big issue with Kerry has been his ability to stay healthy. When healthy, he's been one of the best pitchers in baseball. Using wins as an attack against Kerry is ignorant. It shows a lack of understanding of the game in general. I don't care if Joe Morgan thinks so, it's still idiocy.
  7. Wasting 2.5 million a year on a defensive replacement is stupid!!!
  8. If I weren't at work, I'd be drinking heavily right now. Any word on the finacial terms of the agreement. On the other hand, I still think Furcal is the primary target. Neifi is insurance again, just like last season when he signed Perez before re-signing Nomar. On the other hand...a two year deal is ridiculous. It isn't worth giving roster filler a two year deal. If he's making more than 2 million, I may start drinking at work. DJaxx, can you pm Hendry's email?
  9. I'm glad we set winning as the measure of his effectiveness since it's probably the worst possible metric to measure pitcher performance.
  10. Just for the record, the 2003 National Champion is LSU.
  11. :lmao: no..wait.... :lmao: uhm...forget it. :lmao:
  12. Looks like Philly may trade Howard instead of Thome. Link. http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptionsbook/vezzini.jpg Inconceivable!
  13. The Cubs have a better chance of getting Bradley than Manny. And I'm guessing you're making your "zero chance" statement on gut feeling and no actual source information.
  14. Really? Where have you heard those? Not to question you, but because that would be exciting! Hoops posted a thread where he said there was a three-way trade possibility between the Cubs/Marlins/Dodgers in which the Cubs get Bradley.
  15. Maybe not the worst, but it certainly is bad. We need a lot more than "similar" stats to Burnitz.
  16. Just skimming through their predictions, I doubt half of those happen the way they predict it.
  17. I think there are way too many arms ahead of JVB. He'll be back at Iowa next season unless injuries hit the bullpen hard. I still like Pinto's potential. I'm hoping he performs well at Iowa this year and either pitches his way into the Cubs' plans for 2007 or is used in a trade to help the major league team.
  18. Those guys should keep dusty busy  Winning produces chemistry and that team would have no trouble winning. Oh I agree, just sorta funny. BTW, I think Lowe is considered a whiner to. Taking on Lowe's contract is the grease to the wheels that gets Bradley and Castillo here.
  19. Those guys should keep dusty busy  Winning produces chemistry and that team would have no trouble winning.
  20. Here's my team: 2b Luis Castillo SS Rafael Furcal 1b Derrek Lee 3b Aramis Ramirez CF Milton Bradley RF Jose Guillen LF Matt Murton C Michael Barrett SP Mark Prior SP Carlos Zambrano SP Kerry Wood SP Greg Maddux SP Derek Lowe Bullpen CL- Ryan Dempster Octavio Dotel Glendon Rusch Roberto Novoa Michael Wuertz Will Ohman Scott Williamson Bench Jerry Hairston IF/OF Ronny Cedeno IF Henry Blanco C Adam Greenberg OF Russell Branyan IF/OF
  21. According to this, Bradley will be non-tendered if he isn't traded. This goes on to suggest the Dodgers wouldn't want much in return for Bradley, especially if they might non-tender him. The Cubs should be all over him.
  22. Harvey may have some value, but he's at least 2-3 years from being ready, so teams looking for immediate help won't look at him. Dopirak has value, but not to the Phillies as Ryan Howard is the firstbaseman of the future there.
  23. You think the Cubs can make those two deals and not have Walker be part of them? With the cash we have to spend, yes. We could take Lowe back from the Dodgers and probably get by sending marginal players there. We could then eat some of Lowe's contract and offer him to the Rangers. I haven't really thought through the specifics, but yes, I think that we could.
  24. If we sign Furcal and traded for Mench and Bradley, I think we would have the makings of a good line-up. Furcal SS Walker 2b Lee 1b Ramirez 3b Bradley cf Mench rf Murton lf Barrett c It's not a murderers row, but I think it's a line-up that could score some runs.
  25. Sarcasm? If Bradley produces, I am fine with him hating all peoples, Jeff Kent and his family included. None at all. Both Baker and Bradley are African-American. Hopefully, Bradley will believe that Dusty can relate to his struggles, whether those are perceived or real. Dusty is supposed to have a reputation to soothe the savage souls. Hopefully, he can work his magic with Bradley. I'd definitely take a flyer on him. The Dodgers are likely to trade him away cheaply, and I'd love for the Cubs to benefit from it. I'm not so sure he'll be all that cheap. There are multiple teams that need a CF which creates more of a seller's market. Also, credit the Dodgers for not painting themselves into a corner with regards to trading Bradley. They probably will move him but they expect value in return. I think the Cubs could have really cheap if they're willing to pick up Lowe's contract as well.
