  1. It's not like Kline pitched all that well in Baltimore last year.
  2. Thursday. Nope. December 20th. Jeff is correct. Thursday is the deadline to offer arbitration to your FA, and those players can either accept or reject. December 20th is the date to tender contracts to your own players. So the decision on Bradley has to come on the 8th then, right? No. Bradley is not a FA. He's arbitration eligible bound to team control. He's in the same boat as Patterson, Zambrano, and Hairston are with the Cubs. A decision on him does not have to come until December 20th.

  4. If the Dodgers trade him, Bradley's "preference" doesn't come into play. If he gets non-tendered, he's a free agent so then it would. Also, the Score isn't the most reliable of sources.
  5. I'm not a fan of Huff, but I would be satisfied with these guys. I'd prefer to get Bradley instead of Huff. I'd try to work three separate trades and get Bradley, Wilkerson and Lugo instead.
  6. When asked if Prior was any more of a risk than AJ Burnett, Phillips said "well, Burnett has had surgery to fix his injurys." Wow. So, is Phillips suggesting Prior should have that surgery which causes a force field to protect your elbow from line-drives?
  7. It should be noted that Millwood's agent is none other than Scott Boras.
  8. How about Williams, Pie, Dopirak, Guzman, Nolassco, and Murton for Miggy and Dontrelle?
  9. It still cracks me up that this argument keeps popping up now even though Neifi will make the same next year that he made in 2005. He was vastly overpaid this past season, but I don't recall anyone saying anything about it... There was quite a long thread about it actually. And, yes, there probably was less anquish only because 1 million was all that was guaranteed. But I know I was concerned with the incentives in that deal. If we could search for the thread, there would be ample evidence to support that a number of posters weren't happy with Neifi being signed last offseason either.
  10. Hendry probably heard Sarloos and Ramos....hell, I can beat that easily.
  11. Around 3:30-4:00 CST, I had a few issues, but after that it was very fast again.
  12. Wilkerson should be the top target of that group, but I fear it is Pierre.
  13. I wouldn't label him untoucahble.
  14. Hector Luna would be the likely starter, if the season opened today, and he's pretty good. This Hector Luna? The one with a career 265/322/384 line? while that isn't horrible, I'm not sure it qualifies as pretty good.
  15. It's been widely believed that David Wells would be traded back to the Padres, and according to the Boston Herald, a swap of Loretta for Wells even up is being discussed.
  16. All reports are this one is just waiting for the ink to dry. Toronto scores two big name FA's. So, for it hasn't been a bad offseason for the Jays.
  17. That's whatI'm hoping as well. Hopefully, he just doesn't want every pissant GM trying to work a trade asking for Hill. If the Phillies asked for Hill in a deal for Abreu, hopefully Hnedry would relent.
  18. So, it does appear that reports of this deal being completed were premature at best. All news sources as of this morning are just reporting it like any other possible trade offer. There was also no discusion of an impending deal this morning on XM 175. Hopefully, the Cubs are still in the discussions on Bradley. I think Mitre + Wellemeyer would be a better deal than what the A's are offering.
  19. If I'm trading Prior who's still very affordable for Abreu, the deal would be Prior for Abreu + Floyd + Michael Bourn and 10 million. (5 paid this year on Abreu, 5 paid next year). If the Phillies would do that, I might consider it.
  20. Right, but think about the source. It was written for a Pittsburgh newspaper. If it was posted online at around 11:00 their time. This rumor broke around 11:00 their time. For a story like that, I'm sure he had everything ready to be turned in by 9:00 their time if not earlier. No, the Pittsburgh article was posted 15 mins ago. The one only one hour ago is on the A's front page written by their equivalent to Carrie Muskat. i haven't seen the article so i have no idea, but . . . susan slusser? Article was written by Mychael Urban. (Apparently he can't spell his own first name.) Here's a link.
  21. We better get one of these guys soon, because it looks like the market is heating up. From the Washington Post, Is anyone else scared that Hendry will refuse to pay the price these teams are asking and end up having to sign Preston Wilson and Juan Encarncion or end up giving Pie for Pierre because there will be no other options?

  23. Actually, I do. I just checked and saw that. He's been fairly consisitent there.
  24. They also say we're pursuing Luis Gonzalez.
  25. They're in the same class offensively. Defensively, though, Mench is a LF who would be masquerading as a RF. Kearns is a top RF defender. Kearns Before ASB: .224/.306/.394/.700 After ASB: .253/.353/.498/.851 Mench Home: .273/.340/.486/.826 Away: .254/.317/.452/.766 Before ASB: .291/.356/.551/.907 After ASB: .235/.300/.382/.682 Mench is pretty decent in Ameriquest. As bad as Kearns played in the first half of 2005, Mench played worse in the second half. But hey, Kearns got sent down, lol. Add in Kearns's defense and I don't see how the two should be viewed in the same light. Kearns has also had injuries (which do scare me) and a crowded OF to deal with. Could you post Kearns home-away splits too. GABP is also a hitter's heaven.
