Why? Let Cedeno start and address the outfield situation instead. If you get good bats for CF and RF, no one should have a problem with Cedeno starting. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't complain if the Cubs did get Lugo. However, I would complain if they panicked due to losing out on Furcal and decided to give up way to much for Lugo when they already have a very solid option on the roster in Cedeno. hey i would love Cedeno to be the starting SS. However, I'm a realist and it's not going to happen with Johnnie B. Baker as the manager. Then Hendry might want to consider offering an apology and a reasonable contract to Nomar. I wouldn't come within ten miles of Hendry if I was Nomar. Especially if he still has that famous Hooters 9-1-1 sauce on his chest! :shock:

I may have been upset over not landing Furcal, but the comedy of this thread has given me an enjoyable night. Considering the beating LSU took, that was going to be difficult, but yet it was accomplished. Wow!

I'll check with my source and get back with you. But you have to understand...my source is at the Hooters in West Monroe communicating by text messaging with a Hooters girl in the Hooters on Well St. And amazingly the Hooters girls seem to be better spellers than the fake Len Kasper.

This will upset me only if Hendry goes ahead and trades Walker. If Walker is kept, Cedeno or a re-signed Nomar will be adequate at SS. I agree. Focus on the outfield.

Just got a text message from my Hooter girl source. Len can't comment...he's working on another plate of wings. He did say Hendry is there too...is now shirtless and banging two plates together while shouting "I love Hooters!"

This thread should definitely be archived. I'm dissapointed over not getting Furcal, but I think that this thread is reason to not throw around "supposed" sources lightly. (BTW, one of my sources at Hooters says Len is having a great time and is laughing over his ruse.) A note about my source. She'll say anything as long as I'm tipping. She also saud she will not be around to confirm as she'll be passed out drunk

So are the ticket takers, it doesn't mean they associate with each other as well. I'm sorry, I don't see Hendry discussing it with anyone execpt those directly involved with the signing (scouts, assistant GM, agent, the player, etc). I don't place Kasper in the inner circle. Just as odd would be Kasper breaking it before it happens, doesn't make sense at any angle. well- you guys can believe what you want but i have at least 1 other guy that actually set up a Q and A with Len on this board telling me I actually talked to him. BTW Len DID say 100% I'm going to eat soon and will be on early morning incase you all thought I ran off... Oh and if I'm wrong- I wont post on here ever again....And this beats the he/ll outta cubs boards I read the thread on Cubs.com, and if you really did talk to Len, well, I expected he'd be a better speller considering he's a college graduate.

That would be me. Len told me earlier tonight that he's "100%" sure that Furcal is coming to the Cubs and it may not be announced until Monday. He is expected to sign mid-day Sunday. He also said Pierre is more than likely on the way. Can you tell us how you obtained Len's SN? He got it from the Cubs board from Len b4 he was banned. Its confidential. I wasn't asking for the SN. I was just inquiring as to how he obtained it. If I wanted Len's SN I'd PM on this site myself.

He also said Pierre is more than likely on the way. Does anyone else find Sunday an odd day to be negotiationg multi-million dollar contracts? Not with the Winter Meetings beginning on Monday. Teams like to know where they stand so they can negotiate with clubs accordingly.

I wasn't proposing it for something "realistic", but more to show that there were possibilities that would cause me to trade Lee. But even without the cash...imagine trading Lee for Manny and Lester, then spinning Lester, Pinto, Murton, and Wellemeyer for Helton. Adding Manny and Helton to Ramirez, that line-up would mash. -

I'd probably make deal 1, might make deal 5, but I wouldn't even think of deals 2-4. Looking back over my list, I'd make deal one. Manny is a better hitter than Lee, Lester is a great prospect who could be kept or spun for another player, and we could acquire another firstbaseman to make up for losing Lee. I would probably pass on #2, but I'd take deal number 3. Delmon Young is a special hitter and we could pencil him in at RF right now and not miss a beat. I'd probably do number four as well. Tex has the ability to hit just as well as Lee next season and we'd get two other productive players. Number five I would do in a heartbeat. -
It appears the Reds will trade the players or player that will net them the most in return. Folks, that player is undoubtably Adam Dunn. The only concern is whether the Cubs have enough in the cupboard to get him. I'd overwhelm the Reds with quantity: Williams, Mitre, Wellemyer, and Dopirak for Dunn. Vance, I read somewhere that the Reds are shopping Casey - it was either to the Red Sox or Dodgers. If they moved him, Cincinnati would just move Dunn over to 1B, correct? Yeah, I read the Red Sox are looking at Casey. And yes if they move Casey, they could slide Dunn to first. Of course, would trading Casey bring enough to improve their horrible pitching?
