    I would be ok with that line from Murton. It's not great, but a 280+ average with a 350 OBP would be satisfactory. Yeah, he's definitely a keeper !! :wink: Even if I don't know how to spell projection, eh? Yes, he is. Plus, the fact I have his minor league jersey just adds to my appreciation of Mr. Murton.

    I thought the part on the draft was the best. I liked it as informative look into another team's front office. BTW, Jerry Crasnick's Liscence to Deal offers a nice look into the agent side of baseball.

    Is there anyway to increase the font size. I'm not an old man, but that small font is hard to read when reading an article like BK's latest.

    I think either the Cubs will get Tejada within the next couple of days or the Angels or Astros will swoop in and get him in a week. I doubt the Astros, simply because they have to set aside SOME money to possibly re-sign Clemens, if Roger wants to come back in 2006. Besides outside of Taylor Buchloz (the kid that got for Wagner, sp?) is prolly the closest to being a "high end prosect" the Astros have. And if the Stros are seriously considering the Lidge for Abreu deal, then that would effectively take them out of the Tejada sweepstakes. Realistically,it is really down to two teams...Cubs and Angels. They didn't offer Clemens arbitration, they can't sign him until May 1. I'm maybe ahalf-baked idiot, but not a total idiot, and I do know he wasn't offer arby. Now he isn't going to sign with any team outside of Texas, you know it, I know it, and Clemens knows it. Boston has contacted Clemens and he hasn't ruled out signing with the Red Sox.

    The Astros are believed to be willing to trade Lidge. If they get Tejada, I bet Lidge goes to the Orioles in the deal.

    I don't recall there ever being a Hill/Dunn trade being discussed. I do recall a comment from Bruce Miles that Hendry valued Hill so much, that he wouldn't trade him for Dunn, but that's all I recall. Refresh my memory on the proposed Dunn trade that would have included Rich Hill. That was last year. Hill is no longer an untouchable. Music to my ears. Any chance that means he might be heading to Baltimore? There's always a chance. They're so early in the process right now, but as I wrote today, I think all the old presumptions are out the window. Would this include Pie, as well??? Possibly. Bruce, You're just getting our hopes up. So, could you see the Cubs offering Pie, Hill, and Marshall all in a deal for Miggy?

    You have Manny playing RF? Manny played rightfield exclusively when he was in Cleveland. If I remember correctly, he says he prefers it to playing left.

    According to an article in the Houston Chronicle, the Astros could trade closer Brad Lidge in order to get a big bat. It mentions a trade for Tejada involving Lidge and Everett. That could be appealing to the Orioles since they currently are without a closer. A second deal involving Abreu is mentioned, but to me that's suspect considering the Phillies just paid closer money to Tom Gordon. Either way, it's interesting to think the Astros would shop Lidge.

    If we offered Prior for Tejada, which we wouldn't, there's no way the offer would be Prior + prospects. That's ludicrous.

    Don't you think Baltimore would want Cedeno? Do they have another SS waiting in the wings? I'm just commenting on the rumor that was reported in the other thread. And yes, I assumed they'd want Cedeno.

    If the offer of Hill, Marshall and Pie is used to get Tejada, I still think we may have enough chips to get Milton Bradley or one of the corner guys from Arizona. If you trade for Tejada without using Cedeno or Walker, you could trade either one of those in a package for a corner outfielder. Of course, if we trade Hill and Marshall, we'll have used up much of the young pitchers in the system.

    I've heard a lot about Tejada not getting along with Hernandez, but this article seems to dispute that.

    I'll go on record as being in favor of sending Hill, Marshall, and Pie for Tejada. It's a lot of value, but I think we can get by doing that.

    Neither would I. Aramis is better than Miggy. Is he better when you factor durability into the equation? Tim, this past September was the longest extended period of time missed for Aramis since 2002. He's got to cure the nagging hammy issue, but it's not like he's the second coming of Alou, or Nomar even. His durability is not that big of a concern. Yeah, but we're comparing him to baseball's current iron man. It is a factor. My only real complaint with Tejada is that he walked less in three of the past five years than Corey did in 2004. As the reason for Billy Beane's colorful name for him.

    My guess is Baltimore is going to try to get Tejada to back off his demands.

    Would Hildalgo accept a bench job? Would Dusty know he is a bench player? I like those two for the bench. Hidalgo's last two seasons: 2004: 239/301/444 2005: 221/289/416 He only played in 88 games last season. With those numbers dogging him, he's going to have trouble getting a regular job with anyone. To me he makes a good option for the bench. He's a power threat as a pinch hitter, even if he doesn't make contact a lot. He'd also be ideal for a defensive replacement late in a game. He has a canon for an arm and if you felt a team my try to take an extra base on you late in the game, he could be subbed in at rightfield or leftfield and help neutralize that threat. In his 9 year career, he's only had three seasons that were "good," but he seems like the type of player that could be capable of rebounding for a career year. I wouldn't sign him as a starter and wouldn't want to pay him more than 1.5 million, but if I could get him on those terms, I think he'd be a decent addition.

    ...if you get a full season out of ARam pretty much an unnecesary quip, but I'll play as if the Cardinals thirdbaseman is the picture of health. the best thing that could have happened to his knees is his shoulder injury. Aram gets the nagging pulls that don't go away, but Rolen has two chronic knees and now a shoulder that may never be the same. I would trade Rolan for Miggy. I would too...but I'd argue that Ramirez is more valuable than Rolen at this stage of their careers. Rolen's last three seasons: 2005- 235/323/283 2004- 314/409/598 2003- 286/382/528 Carreer: 284/375/515 Rolen will be 31 next season. Ramirez's last three seasons: 2005: 302/358/568 2004: 318/373/578 2003: 272/324/465 Career: 277/329/465 Ramirez will be 28 next season. I'll grant that Rolen is head and shoulders ahead of Ramirez defensively, in fact the best defensive thirdbasemen I've ever seen play. But given their ages and all, I'd value Ramirez over Rolen at this point. Tejada's numbers are similar to Ramirez over the last three seasons and he does play shortstop where those numbers are harder to come by. Tejada will be thirty next season. I'm not saying I wouldn't trade Ramirez for Tejada, but I wouldn't throw prospects with him to make the deal happen.

    C'mon, he's a Cards fan. He just doesn't know any better. :D I agree with you completely. The guy's our best offensive player by quite a bit, in my opinion. And I will hold that opinion until Lee can show me that 2005 was not a fluke. Hah yeah, you are probably right about me overrating his injury history. If Ramirez is injury prone, what would that make Scott Rolen?
