  1. Corey's patience at the plate is is infuriating all those walks he's been taking could have been better served if he was more of a free swinger. Jay Mariotti does know his butt from a hole in the ground I understand why this thread isn't doing well, it is because we are having such a positive year there is nothing to complain about, besided cub fans never complain.
  2. You got that right... let's try again. I am glad we don't have Dontrell anymore his re-negotiated contract would kill us and we wouldn't have money for Nefi and Macias. I know dontrell would hate to pitch in a stadium full of supported fans, the quiet atmosphere of florida Stadium is ideal for mid-day meditation.
  3. Who's in CF? boy, is that a stupid question macias of course
  4. a long tradition that start4ed many years ago by one of our members on the Cubs site, with our frustration I hope this is a good time to pull this thread out and se where it unravels. 1. That Ronny Cedeno is sure injury prone we should dump him right now and sign Jose (super utility man) macias to a long term contract. 2. keep Nomar at third he looks so natural there. 3. Just three hundred more runs and we will lead the league in runs
  5. It aint over..5.5 back is this a miracle season??? can we rely on three other teams to collapse????
  6. Recent pics??*L* I don't think you want though mary Ann is pretty hot for 63 How would i go back and add pics?
  7. I guess the question remains "Is it a big deal if black kids don't want to play baseball?" If the sport is thriving with a mostly white and hispanic player base, who cares? Is anyone making a big deal of the lack of hispanics in basketball? Or how about no black drivers on the Nextel Cup Circuit? I don't think baseball on any level is practicing a broad form of discrimination against black players. Instead, I think football and basketball are the sports that tend to attract the black youth of this country. very well said!
  8. The big question then is will the old race card be played as an excuse when carpenter wins the Cy Young? Pitching isn't as athletic??? usually the best pitchers were the better athletes at there respective HS and colleges, they just chose to concentrate on pitching.
  9. You are wrong. This may answer both our questions, what is your age 45 here. I bet you'll find it spit by age groups the mid-age will say Jay and David the ynger set Conan. It is a matter of maturity I guess It is true, most 50 year olds aren't awake for conan Nice one...45 here besides If I like being married and sex I will be in bed before he is on
  10. Wow...he could be julian's brother
  11. what aboput when he was on the island with the mind changing doctor and he became ginger?? the two women represent every man's fantasy the girl next door and the naughty side of life, a well thought of metaphore for opur fantasies. big question though is why were they all on the same boat. I understand the millionaire and Ginger but what was a farm girl and a MIT scientist doing there?
  12. Can someone please provide some sort of proof of how his presence on the bench is worth anything other than just spouting off the same tired line over and over? It doesn't look like him leaving Atlanta hurt them, and the Cubs haven't gotten any better since he's arrived. No pitcher has improved. Exactly what has his presence meant to this team? Is it possible that all this talk of Greg's mentoring ability was nothing but talk? Could it have just been a bunch of overhyped romanticism fueled on by the conventional wisdom of a sport that feeds on BS, myths, superstitions, good ole' day gobbledygook and the unsubstantiated subjective ramblings of a collective group of people who absolutely despise the thought of objective analysis? he doesn't have to have spoken mentoring but the sheer fact he is repected, gets there early, works on pitches he does have down has a system for tracking hitters, which Prior has adopted, is a big plus. He is a leader by example.
  13. All right, with the death of Bob Denver , it now begs the intellectual question of Which was your desired fantasy........common don't try to say you didn't have any with these two fine ladies. For you sick one I'll throw in Mrs. (Lovey) Howell I know ladies I have lower myself to the lowest common denominator in this poll , but I was never really any good at math.
  14. Um, sure, if you're simply looking at Wins: Zambrano - 28-13 Maddux - 27-22 Prior - 16-9 Wood - 11-13 But he has the worst two-year ERA of the four, the lowest K/9IP, and this year, the worst WHIP. He also leads the 2005 Cubs in losses, HR allowed, Hits allowed, lowest Pitches/Start, and earned runs. Wow a terrible year Greg is having with a potential of 15 wins. His presents on the bench is worrth the money that is paid out, esp. with wunderkind Kerry always injured and wunderkind Bob (refuse to call him Bobby, he's a man) Brownlie not panning out
  15. question about your pics...isn't that julian Taveres and farnsworth? No way and who is the second guy with the gap in his teeth?
  16. [ He was supposedly going to be in great shape with his wife this year. It would not be stupid to let him go. I don't see how anybody can justify saying it would be. Nomar has been a complete bust in a Cubs uniform. He's not reliable. If they can sign him cheaply, it makes some sense, but if he's offered money elsewhere, they would be more than justified in not signing him. He is looking like he is back to the same Nomar of all-star caliber. We are soooo darn patient with a pin-head like wood yet anybody else is traded or released. I do hope we can sign him cheap, but what is cheap?
  17. should be single elimination just to get ti over with. If your a owner wouldn't you bit a bit worried about injuries in a meanongless game.
  18. Caracass venezuela ...excellent jaz clus
  19. The problem with Nomar is that he has only been healthy 2 out of the last five years. Ya, that was said about Alou, then he found a trainer and got in shape, same for Ken griffey Jr. who never did anything in the off season until this year. 35 hmruns late. Nomar with his wife will be in great shape next year. It would be stupid not to sign him...mmm wait were dealing with the cubs, guess he won't be around
  20. another Commie, pinko idea...probably propsed byt the Chinese.. and Wal Mart
  21. This is just so disturbing and painful to see. New Orleans won't be the same. I'm glad I got to see it before it got flushed. As long as the spirit stays alive they can build on that! Then if you want to see other great things disapear before they do go see Glacier nat'l Park. the glaciers will be gone by 2020
  22. I still don't know who this Fredi gonzales is, and what is his resume like?
  23. The Cubs needed Burnitz on this team this winter, if not what would we possible talk about??? All other positions are just set and with fantastic #4/5 men like Rush and Williams most of us Cubs fans can have a nice relaxing time during winter meeting.
  24. As a history teacher i agree as a geography/economic teacher I don't. We challenged mother-nature and loss. rebuild the French quarter and some nice touristy stuff but then move it back and let the lake and river take back what is the bottom of the toilet bowl (not an insult to the [people but to the physical geography) of the United States. Look at Galveston in 1900, they learned a lesson and thus we have Houston (granted an armpit of Texas)
