There's a very clear distinction between watching it, and tuning in on occasion. If the US is out in round 1, I doubt I will watch more than 1 full game after that. I might watch some in a moment of boredom, but that's all. Watching it suggest you are actually going to sit down and watch multiple games, including both semis, the finals and maybe the 3rd place game (I assume they have a 3rd place game). That is my general feeling -

I agree with nut that Lou will walk so get rid of Hendry, but people may put niether because Hendry is the most successful GM in Cubs History (which is sad to say for history of Chicago)

I was first ..NaNaNA NA Wonder if he just shut it down and quit for season and come back next year at league minimum but in great shape. As much as you guys and he hated the trainer that was brought in to teach yoga and stretching techniques it was one of his best years and he was in dynomite shape

Really? He's a 32 year old who's having one of the best seasons of his career. Plus, he's only under contract through 2011 (with a 2012 $16m option/$2m buyout). I know he wants to be traded to a contender, which likely rules the Cubs out, but if Hendry has an opportunity to get Oswalt in a fair deal, he should take it. Heck, I don't think anyone in the system should be off-limits in a trade for Oswalt. I disagree. What's the point? Oswalt is a good pitcher, and if we needed a starter I'd be all for this, but starting pitching isn't our problem. We have aging corner infielders and our bullpen outside of Marmol or Marshall couldn't get me out most days. I don't know if trading a Jackson or Castro (he's still a prospect even though he's up) is worth it for a pitcher who likely won't fix what's wrong with this team. That's just it one year left on the contract so it wouldn't be a major investment and then any of the starting pitcher if we don't come around come late July could be traded for a corner infielder.

Just a tid-bit of info HCCF and Jerry Meals were on the same wrestling team he wrestled 98 I wrestled 105 and he was an umpire for little league at age 9 and always told us he wasn't going to college because he was going to be a MLB umpire -

Dusty just couldn't do his job because of racism among cub fans. Just ask him he'll tell you. And, you know, he couldn't use any white guys in the summer because black people are more accustomed to the sun, or something like that. That was dumb even for Dusty. I understand why we aren't liking Lou right now but if he gets fired he is the type of guy that will come out and say that he wasn't winning and not some lame excuxe like Dusty had

Come on guys, we are only 5.5 games back only in May and we are in the lousiest division in baseball, I am sure a verbal vote of confidence will change everything around. In fact when we make the playoffs Lou will point to that vote of confidence as a turning point and ignore the accomplishemnets of his players. :roll:

The owner of the Orioles hasn't made Cal Ripken Jr. Manager of the Orioles. What do I win? Wait, what? When did Cal ever make efforts to manage the Orioles? It should be obvious I'm talking about the type of situation Sandberg is in, not just beloved players randomly being asked to manage out of the blue. I thought that he had expressed interest before he started buying minor league franchises. Actually he expressed interest in buying the Orioles if Angelos were willing to sell. I would not be surprised if Ripken jumped at the chance to manage the Orioles but I haven't found any quotes so I'll concede that point. It seems like Billy Williams used to want to be the manager of the Cubs. Babe Ruth never got to manage the Yankees, though I guess they were never in a position to need the publicity of that hire. But the difference is Ryno has put in his time in the minors. Lots of guys wanted to get the gig handed to them, but it was hard to justify. Ryno has played good soldier for 5 years and is almost a lock to get an offer. Agreeing with you on this one, the guy has done everything you are suppose to do, a lot more than Joe Girardi.
