  1. If you're talking about Cade, he couldn't start for my little brothers 5th grade pop warner team.
  2. Since you are so reluctant to put Pedro in your list of top 5 I'd like to see your top 5 pitchers of all-time. Read the list of credentials i provided on the first page and the link to career era+ leaders Tim provided and let me know who your #1 is.
  3. Funny you say that as i was seriously close to putting Rickey at #5 on my list. The question was best offensive player and Rickey was the best baserunner of all time bar none, and baserunning is a very important part of the offense. He was also the best leadoff man ever but the only thing that kept him off my list was his low slg %.
  4. Since i put Pedro as 1st on my list I'll defend myself. First, his adjusted ERA+ is #1 all-time by a HUGE margin. He ranks 2nd all-time in K/BB and 3rd all-time in K/9IP, hits allowed/9, W/L %, and WHIP. He has done all this while pitching in an era where at least a few (if not the majority) of the hitters were aided by performance enhancing drugs, and ballparks were being built to increase scoring. Give me some reasons as to why Pedro should not be listed in the top 5 pitchers of all time.
  5. Ole Miss, just curious as to why you're omitting Bonds, is it because of the issues over steroids or because you feel those 6 were better hitters? Top 5 Offensive: 1. Babe Ruth 2. Barry Bonds 3. Ted Williams 4. Mickey Mantle 5. Ty Cobb Pitchers: 1. Pedro Martinez 2. Walter Johnson 3. Christy Matthewson 4. Warren Spahn 5. Roger Clemens
  6. Pendleton made the All Star team in 1992 and Bonds won the MVP award. Ahh my mistake, thanks for the correction my memory failed me. I should have researched this one a bit before posting. I was right, Pendleton does belong on this list as he won the MVP in '91 without making the all-star team, all the while screwing Bonds out of the award.
  7. I'm pretty sure Terry Pendleton is on this list. I don't even think he made an all-star game his entire career but screwed barry bonds out of the award in '92.
  8. That is not true. Coaches being there for these sort of things is a violiation. Fridge's wife was there early in the day to decorate the whole place in UM colors and invited many friends of the program. The UPS coaches (As he calls it) were across the street at the Best Buy watching the thing. He was obviously leading the UM coaches on to the last second. I don't care how hard-core a UPS fan you are you have to admit that this kid lacked alot of class in this process. It's almost shocking that he didn't choose UF (the Harvard of the southeast) for their "good academic program and everything".
  9. "I will be attending the University of Penn State" -Antonio Logan El
  10. I figured they killed someone I thought that was the only punishable offense at FSU.
  11. Is that the Brent Schaeffer that went to UT?
  12. Look at few posts up  Great news, however. Right now ND is #1 in recruiting for QB, RB, and OL, #3 in DB, and TE, #9 at WR, and #12 at LB. It makes me very happy that Weis can recruit. Also Young did room with Gallup, who had commited to ND already. However other schools did have the same set-up. It is not all that uncommon. McNeil, who just commited to Florida, was roomed with Griffen, who was a Florida commit already. I assume you're talking about Raeshon McNeil the Notre Dame commit? I saw where he is taking his visit to Florida but didn't see anywhere that he decommitted from ND. I just assumed he was going to partake in the "gator getters" and that southern hospitality, or did he officially decommit?
  13. Can you show me where guys considering ND were roomed with ND commits? Before the AA game there were only about 3 available spots left and Young and McCoy were the only ones who hadn't committed that were seriously considering ND.
  14. What school is he the recruiting coordinator for? His actual title is director of personnel development and recruiting organizer. He does this for the University of Notre Dame.
  15. I posted in the Big Ten thread. Yes, Monroe will play. Good, i know my IU friends would use that as an excuse if Illinois won without Monroe playing. I read where Augustine will be guarding Vaden with a Pruitt/Arnold combination on Killingsworth. If IU keeps up its 47% 3-point shooting it'll be a long night, but if they don't UI will dominate the boards and pull out a win in the Bloomington Assembly Hall.
  16. As I said before, I really believe he is Notre Dame's to lose. Weis had him in for junior day last weekend and he admitted to wanting to commit before his football season next year. If I had to predict I'd say he's an 85% lean to the Irish. I don't know if that's supposed to be negative or not. When Powlus finished up at ND he was their all-time leader in completion %, touchdown passes, and lowest interception rate. He was also third all-time in passing yards all while playing under Holtz, who couldn't develop a drop-back passer for the life of him. He definitely regressed while playing for Holtz and his power running/short passing game and still had a more than respectable career. Heck, Holtz even tried to run the option with him. Ron holds a diploma from Notre Dame, graduating with a gpa over 3.0 and is now one of the brightest young recruiting coordinators in the college game. He's also one of the most genuinely decent and polite individuals I've ever sat and talked with. So, I agree with you both, I hope Claussen comes to Notre Dame and becomes the next Ron Powlus.
  17. I'd hold off on such lofty comparisons for Claussen. Not my words, Raisin. I've only seen two videos on the kid and he does look like he could start for some college teams next year already and, if given the choice, i would take him in two years over Mustain next since Brady is still here. However, with all the hype on the kid I wonder if it's even possible to live up to it.
  18. For whoever was asking, national signing day is Feb. 1st To clear up some Mitch Mustain news, no, he was never reoffered a scholarship from Charlie Weis. Weis told Frazer and Jones that he was only taking 2 qb's and he kept his word. Earlier today, Mustain recommitted to Arkansas. Notre Dame remains the top choice of the football Lebron, Jimmy Claussen.
  19. That's funny
  20. And if after all this a clear winner still does not emerge, a three legged potato sack race will be held on consecutive Mondays to determine the champion.
  21. I was flipping through and caught it, wasn't paying that much attention because i was eating a delicious chickenburger, and called my friend who is a HUGE Red Sox fan because I thought they really hired him. He turned to it and instantly thought the same. Needless to say he owes his girlfriend a new lamp cover. true story
  22. Maybe i am going blind but i thought it hit neither the bat nor his arm. To me it looked like it just glanced off Ausmus' glove
  23. This is the exact reason why i want to know. My Sox fan friend tells me how important Podsednik is/how great he is for "Ozzieball" (his words) etc... Then i remind him that the player they gave up for him is three times the player Scott Pod will ever be. I'm not real familiar with VORP or what it explains but if someone can tell me how i could possibly translate that into wins/runs scored for a team that'd be appreciated. If it can't be without some time consuming process i'd be more than happy with just an explanation of vorp so i can shove that down this guys throat.
  24. Can someone with more knowledge of the proper stats tell me how many more/less runs the White Sox would have scored this year with Carlos Lee in the lineup instead of Scott Podsednik? To be fair take it up to the day Podsednik went on the d.l. and if need be just place Lee at the leadoff spot (assuming thats where Podsednik hits).
