  1. Someone should actually write him, I assume he has an email adress somewhere. Just curious, but has Bruce been on the boards today at all? Although, I bet one of the posters around here have his e-mail address. I saw him lurking last night a little bit. Haven't seen his name today though.
  2. I remember last year right when the deadline had past and Gammons said Nomar was not traded and was staying in Boston. 5 minutes later the story broke that Nomar was traded to the Cubs.
  3. Also in 7/20 news, the Pirates are still terrible.
  4. Aren't they going to DL Stormy Weathers? Kearns may be taking his spot. That coudl be it. I don't think they're going to DL Weathers. He's quoted as saying he'll only be out a couple days. And even if he was DL'ed it wouldn't take away from the fact that the Reds have 4 outfielders who deserve to play on the team right now. Why bring him up if he's just going to play half the time while Pena plays the other half?
  5. And he'll be good in spring training getting our hopes up only to get injured again at the beginning of next year. It's a broken record. :x
  6. Nothing like throwing a bunch of gasoline on the fire.
  7. Odd for us, but it's the regular starting time for weekday afternoon games in Cincinnati. Oh, really? Interesting. I don't mind it, I just didn't know that games usually started that early for them. You gotta remember that it's 12:35 in Cincy. That's still early for a game, but it's not that early.
  8. Maybe this trade is the precursor of Holla to the Yankees for F-Rod trade that was rumored before F-Rod got hurt??
  9. Hopefully they both score a lot tonight... :smokin:
  10. Exactly. I think he sets up perfect for the 2-hole hitter. He's not going to hit well with runners on, but his near .400 OBP looks great hitting right in front of D Lee. He might even get better pitches to hit with D Lee behind him.
  11. Don't take this the wrong way, but six commas on one sentence has gotta be some sort of record. ;) Quite a nice rate stat BK! :D In high school I had an English teacher who had us write the longest run-on sentence we possibly could as an assignment. I have no idea how many commas I used, but I do remember my particular entry clocked in at three and half pages. Ms. West was not amused. A conservative estimate of two commas per page gives you seven (2*3.5). Wait...are we trading for Dunn and a comma to be named later???
  12. Nice inning by Novoa. Let's get some runs!!!
  13. That was a wicked swing by Dunn there. :D
  14. Wasn't that an error on the 3B?
  15. Jody's a better defender than Holla. What are the chances he'll replace Holla in LF for the rest of the game? :smokin:
  16. Gotta bring in Ohman now. Prior is done.
  17. Dusty going to the Don Baylor school of "cooling the hot hand". Someone please tell me why Hendry bothered calling up Cedeno, knowing Dusty's man-love for Neifi? Who is this Cedeno person that people speak of? I've never seen this player.
  18. I guess the Cubs learned nothing from rushing Patterson. Might as well rush up Pie as well. :x
  19. Murton goes 4 for 5 last night and gets the bench tonight.

  21. Go to a bar, and ask them to watch the game there. *shrug* Couldn't hurt. I thought about it - that's pretty much my only chance. I've done it before, and I've never had a bar/restaurant turn me down. In the past couple years I had to do that for Bears games when I was on the road. Gotta get your spot early for football.... Sauce I do have xm radio, but that's in my car. I love the Cubs, but I'm not sitting in a parked car for 2.5 hours tonight just to hear the game. I'm already at my hotel, with another 2 hour work day planned for tomorrow, and Thursday too. I plan on playing golf for the first time this year tomorrow. So if I miss a game, with this awesomely easy week I set up it's worth it. Figured this place would have it.... no high speed land line and no WGN! Honestly, I will ask a hotel when making the reservation to check if they have WGN, but I'm like 4 hours from the Chi, I thought for sure they'd get WGN. You should be able to get WGN's terrestrial signal within that range. In addition, if memory serves, there are a couple of Cub affiliates in Michigan ... might be worth spinning the clock radio dial. I can get WGN in Ann Arbor, but only in my car. I'm about 3 and a half hours pretty much due east of Chicago. Might just be best to go to a sports bar to watch.
