  1. If he can pitch anywhere near his normal our bullpen could be really good. Could you imagine a bullpen that has Woody, Williamson, and Dempster in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. Who would be the closer in that bunch? Tough call.
  2. I don't think anything has been announced yet. We probably won't know until it gets closer to game time tonight. I think it's either Wood to the DL or Mitre to AAA.
  3. Thought I'd give this a bump. Borowski has been great for the Rays so far. From Rotoworld:
  4. Yeah, Miller had a frayed labrum. On the other hand, so did Matt Morris, and he's better than ever. IIRC Wade Miller never had surgery to fix his frayed labrum. They decided he didn't need surgery and just let it heal on it's own. Maybe he should have had surgery.
  5. Someone please explain to me how Morgan freakin' Ensberg is hitting .290 with a .387 OBP and .589 SLG %? The guy has 26 homeruns and 74 RBI's. How is that possible? It's Morgan freakin' Ensberg.
  6. I wonder what kind of reception Hawkins will recieve if he pitches sometime in this series. I fear it's not going to be too good.
  7. One of my buddies said he heard on the radio (didn't give the source - but I do live near Rolen's hometown which is also in Cards' country so I generally trust info like this on Rolen) that Rolen might be done for the season or at best be back at the end of August. Not surprising with Rolen, hoping for him to stay healthy is like thinking Kerry Wood will pitch 200 innings. Joe Morgan was talking before the game yesterday about how it wouldn't be a surprise if Rolen wouldn't be seen in the Cards' lineup until spring training next year.
  8. I agree we should shut Wood down if there's a physical injury requiring surgery. Let him heal up sooner and focus on delivery changes, etc. Hill deserves a chance to start this year given his performance in the minors. I'm also looking forward to seeing Guzman compete for a starter's job next spring since reports on his rehab have been positive. Guzman has been shut down for the year. Again. This time with a sore elbow. It's looking less and less likely that he'll ever make it to the majors. Cubs.com Article about Guzman (Scroll Down to bottom of the page.)
  9. Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure Hill is a lefty.
  10. I hate this thread. Some terrible news on Wood: Off-Season Surgery Likely for Wood Wonderful.
  11. Haha. I'm not gonna say a bad thing about Neifi for a week now. What a big hit by Neifury. :D

  13. Thats the problem.. He is a good starter because it takes an inning or so for his sinker to sink in. I think Mitre should be starting or he has no point being apart of this team. Exactly. He has no shot of being a good reliever when he depends so much on that sinker of his. I see him as being trade bait more than being in the future of this organization.
  14. Good to hear Hill is getting the start on Monday. I'd like to see Mitre sent down if Wood isn't put on the DL. Mitre needs to get innings as a starter. It's pretty obvious that his sinker doesn't work very well coming out of the bullpen.
  15. and what's funny about that is his swing reminds me of Larry Bowa's in his Cub days. it's about as week as it gets. Neifi needs to realize that his team would be much better off if he never took the bat off his shoulder and wore 100 lb. boots so he's not so adept at getting out of the way of the inside pitch. the one pitch he can hit as a lefty he's bailing out on 95% of the time. it drives me nuts. and some how he has a knack to GIDP when a strikeout would have been better and K or pop up when a GIDP ball would have been fine. Neifi is second to bottom of all ML batting title qualified players in BB/PA. Pudge is worst (anyone really think not signing him was a mistake?). he's behind Corey, Jose Reyes, and Alfonso Soriano. he's nearly doubled his career total in HBP this year with 3. his P/PA is 5th lowest in all of baseball. He's allegedly fast, but is tied for 13th in GIDP when most of his ABs have come after the pitchers spot or Corey (the only middle infielder ahead of him is Renterria batting behind Damon's .400+ OBP). last winter alot of people mentioned how, by some measures, Neifi is the worst hitter in 50 years or something like that. I was skeptical, but Neifi's made a believer out of me. I want to understand your statement better. Are you saying that based upon Neifi's BB/PA ratio and Flyball ratio that he is the worst hitter in 50 years? If that is what your saying, that is an utterly ridiculous statement. I could name quite a few players off the top of my head that are vastly inferior to Neifi in the hitting department. Sure Neifi is not the best hitter in baseball, but if you put certain numbers like BA/OBP up against Patterson, you will find that career wise Patterson has a worse BA and OBP than Neifi. He is a backup SS hitting .260 something this year, not sure I understand all of the negativity directed toward him. #-o One more time: Neifi only gets on base 28% of the time. That's just not good at all. And it's kind of pointless comparing Neifi's numbers to Cpatt since the Cubs demoted him to AAA. There's a rookie sitting on the Cubs' bench who was batting .370 in AAA. I think the biggest problem that people have is that Cedeno doesn't get any sort of shot. Dusty just keeps sending Neifi out there even though he's been abysmal since the beginning of May.
  16. Corey's average is now down to .200 in AAA. It's only been a few games, but let's hope he can get it turned around.
  17. Do you see him getting a chance in our outfield next year?
  18. I think a good question would be would you rather have Wood starting 3 games and then having to miss a couple weeks, or would you rather have him coming out of the bullpen? Tough call.
  19. This thread just goes to show you how hungry we are for a trade. :D
  20. Is going Washington kinda like going postal?? :D
  21. Anyone Tivo the game? Maybe you could go back and try to see what was said.
  22. Geez. I thought the guy was traded. This title needs a change.
  23. Cubs win!!!!! Awesome!!!! Holy crap I need to change my pants!!!
