    Can anyone see Dusty putting Burnitz in CF, Lawton in LF, and Murton in RF? Burnitz is probably a better defender than Hairston anyway. Hairston has been pretty bad in the outfield lately.

    That's a great trade by Hendry if it's just Gerut. Lawton gives us a legitimate lead-off hitter with a great OBP. I was hoping for a Dunn, Manny type guy, but Lawton definitely makes this team better.

    Brad Wilkerson isn't in the Nationals' lineup today. Maybe Hendry is trading him for Todd Hollandsworth, and that's why Holly isn't in our lineup today. :smokin:

    I'd be disappointed because even with Nomar coming back I just don't see our offense being that good. Sure we'll score runs in bunches at times, but we also go through horrible slumps like we're in now. I'd like to see another big bat added. I think the addition of Williamson and Wood to the bullpen will actually boost the bullpen quite a bit. I'd still like to see a trade for an arm, but it just doesn't seem very realistic. Teams are asking for way too much.

    No. But being a guy who wants to see every possibility exhausted to get Manny to the Cubs, I'd sure love to think that way! Even if ARam is part of the package sent back to Boston like Steve Stone was saying? I'd love to have Manny here as well (provided Boston picks up a large chunk of his salary) but not if it is going to cost us someone like ARam who we couldn't replace easily. Ok, I DEFINITELY wouldn't do that. What I meant to say was, we should exhast every possibility THAT MAKES SENSE to get Manny to the Cubs. Trading either of ARam, DLee, Prior, Z, Barrett, or Murton would not make too much sense. MM maybe as he's a LF too, but that dude's got a huge upside it would appear, would like to hold on to him for a bit longer. Barrett is tradeable, especially if they throw Shoppach into the trade with Manny. And why would the Red Sox want Barrett? I'm pretty sure they're set at the catcher position.

    Will Carroll said that the Cubs and Twins are done making deals. Other than that there hasn't been a whole lot else new. Manny didn't start tonight, and there's rampant speculation to the reason for it, ranging from him not showing up at the ballpark, to a trade being consumated. So our big deadline trade was Jody Gerut? Yay, we're on the way to the Series now... Wait until Monday to say that. Lot's of people have said things that may or may not be true in regards to the trading deadline. This wouldn't be the first time that the media has been wrong about a trade. Yeah, I know. I'm just so anxious to see something happen.

    BBTN guys were just talking about Soriano. Olney said Cubs asked about Soriano, but the talks were preliminary. Basically he said Hendry called the Rangers and told them he was a little interested and the Rangers said "okay, thanks." Doesn't sound very serious. :D

    Schneider goes deep for the Nats. 3-1 Marlins now in the top of the 3rd.

    Marlins are already beating the Nationals 3-0 in the bottom of the first. There's still a runner on 2nd and only 1 out.

    Haha. I just read the last 10 pages of this thread. It's funny watching people go from absolutely ticked off to absolutely elated in the matter of a couple minutes. Game threads are awesome. :smokin:

    I'm way late and didn't get to see much of the inning, but I got to see what matters most. Way to go Aram!!! I also see that there were 2 walks in the inning. Amazing what those will do for you.
